Sun screen that won't cause spots

I am off to France in a few weeks for a skiing holiday and I need some sort of SPF for my face. The trouble is that I always get these awful huge painful spots whenever I use sunscreen. I cannot use foundation that has spf in it as it has the same effect. I wondered if anyone has any recommendations for a good sun screen - SPF 30-50 - that is good for sensitive skin and might not cause spots. I know that I cannot use Nivea, soltan, Ambre Solaire, Avon, or anything heavily perfumed. I'm willing to spend a bit more than normal in order to get something that works!

I have very sensitive skin and eczema and for the last two years I have used sun mousse. I got it from boots and it was lovely to use, not greasy or thick. A can goes a long way , I used two cans for a two week holiday and didn't burn once. Have fun!

Toffee, have you tried / seen Ultrasun ? You can get a sensitive one at high factor and as it's only once a day (and really does work) I find my skin doesn't get too greasy. It's not cheap, but goes a long way

I have the same problem. I have found roche de posay anthelios to be the best though it does still give me some spots. I try to cleanse during the day as well as at night and in the morning which seems to help a bit.

Always highly regarded on these threads for high spf for spot prone skin , bought it in the summer and used it once, so it should still be fine. Just didn't get on with it myself and it seems a shame for it to sit gathering dust, so pm me your address if you'd like it and I'll post it to you

I use the facial version of bog standard suncream and I don't get spots from that (I do from the normal version) Is it that simple for you? Hopefully? :)

La Roche Posay is the way to go, they do a great tinted 50spf for the face that doesn't irritate eyes or skin.

Boots sell it.

Clinique do good high factor sun creams for the face without oil in them suitable for oily spot prone skin.

I've also used ultrasun, got it from qvc, was good as lasted all day, most need reapplying every few hours.

I have to be very careful what I put on my face, not only do I get spots I look like a chip pan all day too.

It was so good on my skin that I actually considered using it as my day-t0-day moisturizer...

You could perhaps get it cheaper at the airport if you are flying?

Wow! Thanks for all of the replies! Sorry to take so long to reply, I got lured away from the computer by DS into a game of hot wheels!

I will have a look at all the suggestions. There are a few that I have never heard of so it is good to have a few options to explore. I'm thinking may be a trip to Boots and John Lewis to see if I can get any samples to try. I'll know pretty quickly if it will affect my skin.

Have pm'd you back- forgot to mention, body shop do a few spf creams and will happily give you a small sample pot to try if you go in and ask.
