Which bag?

I just had a massive clear out and sold a load of things on Ebay. As a treat and so not spend the cash on things like food shopping I intend to buy a bag for a max of £200.

I have never spent so much on a bag and doubt I will ever again! I have seen two contenders so far:
this
Or
this

I have found both in the sale for under £200. I want a classic bag that will last. I bought second one but then found first and not sure which is better. I can return second as from a big department store. I love Longchamp but not sure if the one here is too 'blingy'.

What do you think or do you think there are even better alternatives that you can suggest?

I prefer the Longchamp.

Thanks moosebe- do you think it looks classic enough to last a few years?

I think the Ralph Lauren is much nicer and I posted recently about how much I love a Longchamp bag. The Longchamp you linked to isn't a very nice colour IMO and the Ralph Lauren is a classic style.

madammecholet · 21/01/2013 22:07

Longchamp is far nicer IMO...

I think both are nice. Go handle the first one and decide which one you like better. we are just strangers on the internet

The first one is available at a boutique in London with 60% off. I can't go and see it unfortunately as I live far away. The Lauren one arrive today and smells really badly of chemicals and looks a bit dated, has a slight 80's feel to it IMO.

I do like the longchamp a lot but am not sure if it will be a bit 'euro trashy' with all the gold detail and monogram.....

I think that Longchamp does look a bit shiny to be honest, and I also love their bags normally.

Have you thought about the le pliage in leather? They had them at Harrods for £140 something - or the veau foulonne? Or even the derby, which is a smilar shape to the one you linked to, but not so shiny. They are all around £200. Look on their website

Longchamp. Looks better quality leather and nicer style. The other bag looks a bit dated and grannyish. Like something the queen might wear on weekends!

Vote for Longchamp. If I have such budget I'd buy something like this. You may say that black is boring but it looks good with every outfit.
