Bargain in the sale but I'm confused to whether it will suit me or not.

Size 10-12. Hourglass with bit of a mummy tum.

Nope. I'm a 10/12 with large norks (30G) and I love my Guernsey top. It's the most flattering Breton top I own and I own quite a few

I'm the same size and shape as you are and I own two. I love them. I wear them with skinny jeans. I got the 10, it's boxy but still flattering (I also bought them to disguise baby tum)
