I haven't been to one since I was a child so have no idea what to wear.

Will white skinny jeans with t-bar gold wedge and a vest top of some sort do?

If not ideas please.

I'm staying over at my friends from Monday til tonight so wont be able to change last minute

No that will not do at all.

Dressed like that you sound like a rebellious yoof!

Wear something sensible. What else have you got?

meditrina · 19/01/2013 15:57

What do you usually wear to Church? For a Christening, it's the top end of Sunday best: trousers fine, but caution with jeans (unless it's your own Church where that's generally OK, and you're not a Godmother).

Most churches are well heated, but I wouldn't be going anywhere in a vest top at the moment!

tethersend · 19/01/2013 16:30

White jeans and a vest top to a January Christening Grin

Come on, sort it out!

Raid the wardrobe. What have you got?

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 19/01/2013 16:48

I have a mix of everything. I am not a godmother and I don't ever go to church so I don't have a Sunday best outfit.

I am only 22 so white skinnies are dressing up for me Grin

Everyone else is wearing dresses but I wont due to having a leg that has bad circulation die to muscle damage and scarring.

Examples of whats appropriate please.

Thick opaque tights would be fine with a short dress though.

I honestly thought you were joking in your OP!!

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 19/01/2013 16:53

Seriously I wasn't! I live in vest tops, cardis and skinny jeans. White for going out and special occasions Grin I only have going out dresses or summer ones. Nothing in-between. I honestly always look like a teen.

I was a 22 yo athiest once, you know- would still never have worn white jeans to a Christening Grin

Ok, so you have opaque tights as an option.

Trousers are fine for a christening, but I'd smarten them up with a blouse or a jacket or both.

Have you got any dresses?

MaureenShit · 19/01/2013 16:54

WHITE JEANS? are you MAD?

tethersend · 19/01/2013 16:55

Summer dress with opaque tights and heels could look good. Pop a blazer or jacket over the top and carry a clutch bag.

Hard to say without knowing what kind of dresses you have.

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 19/01/2013 16:57

Not bad just not down with the christenings Grin

Friend was no use. I asked her and she said a flame proof suit incase I set on fire as I walk into the church Grin

I only realised maybe skinnies weren't ideal when she text saying she has just picked up her brothers suit

I have one dress which I'm not sure about l. I think its only for going out but I will link a picture

NO NO NO

that is an evening dress

quick go to a shop

tethersend · 19/01/2013 17:03

Err... with opaques under... and a jacket... and perhaps a polo neck underneath... Oh fuck. Can you get to a shop now?

DuchessFanny · 19/01/2013 17:04

is that a cut out bit under the boobage area ? might be slightly inappropriate for church Grin
Have you any plainer dresses, wear with opaques, heels, nice blazer and a large clutch ..

or

skinny trousers, shirt or nice top, heels, large clutch

Ruprekt · 19/01/2013 17:04

No!! NO!! NOOOOOO!!!!

Thick tights, summer dress, cardi if you have to though jacket would be better.

Nice makeup and some stuff in your hair.

Look like you have made an effort!

motherofluvlies · 19/01/2013 17:18

Jumper over the dress?thick tights ?

SPsFanjoIsAsComfyAsAOnesie · 19/01/2013 17:29

I have a saviour. My friend is same size as me so going to raid her wardrobe. She has formal dresses.

Think I will have to name change now Grin

Thanks for your help. I have a wedding in September so I will be back Grin

I don't think white skinny jeans have to be a complete no no (not if the purple dress is the other option at least) so long as you style it well.

Do you have a blazer/smart jacket? I think <a class="break-all" href="http://www.google.co.uk/imgres?um=1&hl=en&safe=off&sa=N&tbo=d&biw=1366&bih=667&tbm=isch&tbnid=Ijcmgdv_Fa3L5M:&imgrefurl=www.boguslavskysisters.com/white-skinny-jeans-style/&docid=jomSWlMcJ9ZpGM&imgurl=www.boguslavskysisters.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/06/white-skinny-jeans.jpg&w=627&h=628&ei=L9f6ULDGJ8XbsgbyjIGADw&zoom=1&iact=hc&vpx=62&vpy=262&dur=596&hovh=225&hovw=224&tx=162&ty=122&sig=107108562004427762815&page=3&tbnh=149&tbnw=146&start=75&ndsp=42&ved=1t:429,r:97,s:0,i:393" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">this looks really nice and quite elegant, although possibly a bit Spring/Summer.

MaureenShit · 19/01/2013 17:32
