Where do I go to find one?

I am not a glamorous person but I don't want to look a frump.
I hate polyester.
My work dresses/skirts are mainly white stuff.

Help!

What's your budget/size/shape?

I think Mango's range of long dresses are great and pretty cheap too.

tethersend · 19/01/2013 18:58

Do you want long or short?

You could always book someone at HoF or JL to advise...

I'm in exactly the same position - right down to the 'usually wearing White Stuff' thing (although I'm trying to branch out a bit from that too).

Mine's a military type do (husband has been doing some work with them), so I'm assuming it needs to be a fairly posh frock (i.e. long).

Not wishing to take over wolfbrother's thread, but if you could consider me too - I'm tall, brunette, and about a size 14 (although occasionally a 12 in dresses if they're not tight around the bum!) Budget - dunno - we're not massively flush but I don't mind spending a bit for something that's clearly good quality.

Thanks guys.

Size 10 or 12 depending on fit. I mean, I usually wear size 10 bottoms but size 12 tops, so it all depends.
Unfortunately I'm short (about 5'3 ish) and not blessed with long legs, so long dresses are usually much TOO long...so I guess short so that it would actually fit!!

Can you really book someone at JL to advise? What does that cost? What if you don't like what they show you? I'm so ignorant.

I think I'd definitely need to try it on, rather than risk on-line shopping!

Like silversmith I'd rather spend a bit more for good quality.

I love the gold one - would certainly look the part (whatever the part is!). My only reservation is that yellowy tones can make me look a bit sallow. Maybe a trip to our local House of Fraser to see if they have it to try on. Thanks!

Thank you Horace
