Get a pot of the Nivea really thick cream, the one in a blue pot. I have slathered it on this morning and it's doing its magic before I head out. I use it as a night cream too. It's a bit of a bugger to get makeup on top of but alright as long as you wait a few hours for it to sink in.

Waitrose baby bum cream or superdrug vitamin e facial oil both make great barriers for skin when out in really cold weather.

Sorry, have to say this, the first thing that sprung to mind when I read your question was to stay in bed. I've got one of the Olay creams as I find this brand suits me skin most. If your skin gets really chapped (like mine sometimes done) I put a light lower of vaseline on the dry bits in the evening as it doesn't irritate. Also, I always have some lip cream and handcream in.

I use this when it's frosty - it is a bit greasy but does the job..... I pine for clinique 'weather everything' Sad

Waitrose Baby Bottom Cream is great for chapped skin or as a barrier when you're out in freezing cold, it is a bit greasy though. I love Astral Face Cream in all weathers - slap it on when it's freezing outside.

Lots of great suggestions in the MN beauty roundup, OP www.mumsnet.com/bloggers/roundups/beauty-nov12

I use Boots Traditional Skin Care Skin Cream. Don't dismiss it out of hand, just because its only £2.49p. It's good... Have a look at the reviews on their website. I've used it for years and I have pretty good skin, at 50. I run (even in the snow) 5 days a week and this really protects my skin, in this weather.

I have hideously dry skin. This cold weather makes it shrivel up in fright. Nothing much seems to work. But, someone on MN yesterday said that she put Flexitol foot cream on her face as it contains urea. Last night and this morning I used my CCS foot cream on my face. It's fantastic. Huge difference. It feels plump, doesn't itch and doesn't look shrivelled. It contains urea, but is a thick, white, inoffensive cream. I am a convert.
