Hair Dye Help

Had my hair professionally dyed just over a week ago from dark blonde to a dark red/brown colour. Was a big change and I had just about got used to it and decided I liked it and this morning noticed it is fading already!

I have heard that red hair can be a tricky colour to stay but have been really good only washing my hair every other day etc so can't believe its fading already.

I cant afford to keep going back to the hairdressers so am thinking about dying it at home to keep the colour vibrant but don't know where to start (popped into Boots and was totally overwhelmed by choice!). My hair is quite fine and cannot take anything like bleach etc as the condition really suffers. What is the best semi perm colour and how long is it likely to last?

Also is it hard to apply at home and get an even colour?

Superdrug do a wash in type thingy called 'colour effects' I think which lasts quite a while (as long as you don't have greys that is).

Or do a demi-perm (lasts couple of months). Casting is a good demi-permanent and makes your hair very shiny.

Try a non SLS shampoo too.

what shampoo are you using?, some can really strip out the colour, i find the john frieda ones work best for a minimal amount of fading.

On second thoughts, go and tell / show them! Sounds like a poor dye job! Tell them you are disappointed and see what they say or offerto do?

cerealqueen just wanted to say thanks for your advice - I did as you suggested and now have lovely red hair (and they did not charge to put it right) Grin
