Anyone bought clothes from COS before?

Hi there

I just had a look at the COS sale and it looks like there are some lovely things. I am thinking about getting a few wardrobe staples in the sale.

I've never bought from COS before and wondered if anyone has and can advise on the quality etc? I see they are owned by the same company that own H&M and I have found H&M to be pretty bad quality in general.

Also does anyone know how the sizing comes up, on the COS site is says a 'S' is a 10/12, is that true to size?

The quality is good, but the sizing is all over the place. i've had to buy XS trousers, but a L jumper (am a 12). Has put me off ordering from them, tend to just buy when I am in London.

I've found things vary hugely. Dresses seem to come up really massive, especially anything remotely A-line or tunic-like. But the couple of skirts / tops I've bought from there seem to be pretty true to size.
I've not had any problems with quality so far - I like the heaviness of the skirt material - but I haven't got loads of stuff from there, so could just be lucky.

I have bought from Cos. I like it a lot, it's great. It's hard to buy online, I find, you really have to try on. And I find the website is not really a good reflection of how the clothes look irl, IMO.
Generally, I think it's big, but not always. (Helpful). They sometimes have a lot of polyester, so watch that. Cut can be excellent, very flattering, and the clothes can be fab on but soo hard to buy online.

I'd also watch out for returns if buying online.
I assumed I'd be able to return or exchange stuff, but I could only exchange for the same item in a different size. No return or exchanging for something else.
Not sure if this was just over Christmas time, but I'd read up on it especially if you are unsure.

wowOoo, that sounds infuriating.

I went there for the first time recently - loved it. Got a very cool necklace and ring, and a wool A-line skirt in the sale. The skirt was a 16, I didn't try it on as in a hurry and I knew I could take it in if necessary (I'm usually a 14), but it's a perfect fit - so smallish sizing there, but it sounds like it varies.

I thought online shops had to refund you on request, by law.

I love Cos. Echo the other comments - the sizing does vary widely. I do order on line but I have lots of their clothes so have an idea what size I will be in what style. I think the quality is very good for high street. I would follow their washing instructions though.

I like Cos too but agree re the sizing. I just bought a jumper in large but a dress in XS! I do think though that their clothes mostly and esp the dresses work better on the tall and slim as they are rather shapeless and are designed to hang rather than fit iyswim?

I love the clothes on the website and have to a shop once and tried on stuff but not a lot of the shapes suited me. They do have lovely stuff but I think it's somewhere quite hard to buy online. I just wish I had a store near me.

Thanks for all of your tips. I'm really tempted to just get the stuff. I'm 5foot 8" and usually a size 10 or 12, so hoping that I might be a S or a 38.

This is the top I especially like . I was going to order a 38, from your experiences would that be about right???

Quite shocked at the £6 delivery charge but they do, do free refunds by the looks of it. I checked and it doesn't say sale items can't be refunded, just has to be done within a 14 day period I think.

I wonder why I wasn't allowed to return mine then. Odd!

Yes, the delivery charge is a bit excessive! They don't seem very keen on internet sales. Awful images, high delivery charges, inconsistencies in sizing. Given the paucity of Cos stores, they really should improve their online sales effort. I would definately buy more from them online if I could, getting to their store is a pain. I think a lot of others would also, their stuff can be great.

Agree with all this, but on the other hand COS shops are few and far between. Last time I looked it was more than £6 for me to get to London, which is my nearest, so I buy stuff online -- one thing I think they are absolutely excellent for is trousers. I tend to size up as I can't bear clothes that are too tight, so would normally take 44 in trousers as size 16. The thing about COS is that you are not meant to look as if you are squeezed into the clothes.
