Any tips for skanky roots?

I have had to postpone my next full head highlights appointment from the end of this month to early March due to a clash with a family event. I don't want to go to a different stylist as I am in a nice comfortable rut place with this one and she actually does a good job and listens to what I want doing.

The upshot of this is that by the time I next get them done, it will have been about four bloody months between appointments and I will look grim.

So far I have come up with the following options:

Hat
Look on it as a useful opportunity to see how much grey I now have
Large and arresting strategically placed hair clip
Better hat

Anything I can actually do with my hair? It is straightish, mostly blonde (hah!) and about shoulder length.

would dry shampoo help you to blend the roots in with the rest(batiste and others do coloured dry shampoos - blonde/brown/black - I think)? How about a large headband, they can look beautiful and very sixties/mod.

Both good options, thank you! I shall have a look at the giant headband option as I think I can pull that off for work (only 3 days a week) and rely on sod it for the rest of the time.

I hate roots when they come through on me! I tend to pin my long fringe up in a quiff to cover visible roots at the front of my parting.

Bumble and Bumble used to sell colour powder sprays for roots, but four months is a lot of root to cover up, so would opt for pinning and hiding in additiion.

I'd do the pinning but I can only do hair to the same level as a 4yo . To be honest, a headband is rocket science.

Normally my hair routine goes: wash, condition, blast with hairdryer, forget I have hair at all until next morning. Occasionally I straighten it if I'm going out.

I suck at being a girl.

I use Clairol Nice and Easy Root Touch Up Kit between appointments. ace.

Seriously it is easy.

Mix it up, but keep the little bowl in the sink to avoid spills.

Put it all along your parting and spread it around.

Put the bowl and little brush in a plastic bag, then bin.

Rinse sink and check for splashes.

Look at clock for 10mins plus.

Rinse it off.

I use the nice and easy root touch up too. It's brilliant.

Another vote for Clairol Root touch up - a lifesaver in situations like yours, and very easy and non messy to do (even for a klutz like me)
