Where can I buy this? I have heard it's brilliant for wrinkles but unsure how to get hold of any? Thanks.

I stopped using mine during the summer, but this thread's made me dig it out of the drawer again - it did definitely work for me!

willybreeder · 16/01/2013 23:05

I started using this around summertime and love it! My skins combination with some wrinkles and its cleared up the congested areas as well as brightening my skin. Not 100% sure on the wrinkle effect but as you have to use regularly to improve collagen production I will keep going.
I asked my friends who were going to Dubai to get my some from the chemists, around £5 a tube. The cream is kinder than the gel - by which I mean it is not as astringent and nicer to apply. I only use in the evening, straight after cleansing and use Aveeno moisturiser afterwards. Daytime moisturiser is a facial suncream.

You also cannot get pregnant - my Dr was very wary about prescribing it as I was of child bearing age, but as I have a coil and I am "done" she did. I think it is because it speeds up something in the cells, not good if you have a cell dividing embryo. It didn't work for me at all - was having horrendous spots and it made my skin terrible, dry, flakey and the spots no better, and I gave it time. Switched to a topical antibiotic and I have beautiful spot free skin atm. Now using nothing as all under control. You have been warned!

BunFagFreddie · 16/01/2013 23:51

I gave it a go and had to give up. I was so sore and flakey. It also made my pores look huge. Wish I could use it though, because so many people say it does marvelous things.

I just stick to glycolic acid now.

Can anyone recommend a reliable place to buy retin-a cream. I did have it on a script for 15 years on and off but since a break with my last baby it's not available here according to my dr and its only combined with some other thing (may have been antibiotic I can't recall, something I didn't want anyway). I had 0.025 and 0.05 Strengths IIRC.

I don't feel quite right about buying off eBay from Asia would it be the real thing?Confused

The LA Roche posay retinol cream is supposed to be very good

Champagnecharleyismyname · 05/04/2015 14:50

You can get the skinceuticals of Amazon 1.0 strength for about £46. Has made my skin look brighter. I am only using it twice a week as does cause flaking.

QuinnFabray · 05/04/2015 15:48

I am using Sunday Riley Luna night oil which isn't currently available in this country, but will be in the next couple of months, I believe. I bought it from Sephora online and had it shipped from the US. It's quite a powerful retin-a in a more gentle form. Caroline Hirons has a review of it if you want to read the sciencey stuff. My skin hasn't tolerated any retin-a before, but this stuff is impressive. Expensive, but I only use 3 or 4 drops a night, so it will last for months. I saw a visible difference within a few days, and have had no irritation.

Nothing you can buy over the counter is the same or as strong as Retin-A. There are internet pharmacies selling it, you can't guarantee it's the real thing except buy trying it and if you get the same initial flaking it's the real deal

Clarabumps · 05/04/2015 19:16

I've just bought some Retin a Trentinoin? from an Ebay site in Thailand. It looks like a prescription so I'll see how I get on. I'm going to patch test it on a small part of my face and see how strong it is.

Lelivre · 05/04/2015 22:11

kundry I think I will risk one of the online pharmacies. You are right I will know pretty much straight away if it is the what I have used in the past.
Thanks for the other comments and ideas.
