I haven't worn it since I was 18. It's half price in Boots. I'm I trying to claw something back that's long gone?

I have some....It's very dated!

PandaNot · 05/01/2013 16:35

It's the smell of my childhood, my mother wore it.

MooMinCow · 05/01/2013 16:35

Sali Hughes gives it a thumbs up here

dischordant · 05/01/2013 16:40

The only one in that list I agree with is Clinique Aromatics

WowOoo · 05/01/2013 16:44

I love it. Think it's a classic. But it also reminds me of my mother.
I may have to buy some if it's half price.

Lighthousekeeping · 05/01/2013 16:47

Yes the 50ml bottle is. It reminds me of living in the Middle East and earning loads of money and not having anything to show for it now. I could say the same thing about Beautiful but I don't think I could wear that now. It would knock me out.

I LOVE the canister, so chic!

Lighthousekeeping · 05/01/2013 18:01

Maybe I'll just have it for display!

It's classic, it's great, but not for everyone.
Plus it was reformulated recently (during Tom Ford's reign) - may be different from what you remember.
My mother wore it too.

There is a story that Andy Warhol was buried holding a bottle of Beautiful in his hand (he was a HC perfumista).

BellaVita · 05/01/2013 18:09

Noooooo!

starfleet · 05/01/2013 18:11

It's my favourite perfume Smile. Bought a huge bottle at duty free a couple of months ago.

reastie · 05/01/2013 18:11

Lighthousekeeping · 05/01/2013 18:34

It's amazing. Opium is my mother. That's all she used to wear and my friend has been wearing it for 25 years!

I used to love Estée Lauders Cinnabar but I think I would faint if I smelt it now.

Pinot · 05/01/2013 20:13

Ooh I might get some - I have been wondering since following Sali's column religiously.

Cheers OP

Pinot · 05/01/2013 20:15

Oh. It's not half price :(

£16 off though.

Lighthousekeeping · 05/01/2013 20:16

It's cheaper than the 30ml bottle

WhoKnowsWhereTheTimeGoes · 05/01/2013 20:16

Don't come near me with it, my mum used to spray it on liberally before we all went out together in the car, gave me sick headaches being in a confined space with it. I sniffed it in a shop recently and nearly retched.

auldspinster · 05/01/2013 21:13

I love it and wear it all the time, it has changed a little over time but it's still nice.
