Estee Lauder - Advanced Night Repair, Anyone Have Issues with it?

I am thinking of doing something fairly radical to my wrinkles and lines so instead I decided to give a cream / serum one final try.

After a lot of online research I went for EL ANR and the non-oily daywear cream, but it doesnt seem to be agreeing with my skin at all. My skin looks greasy and I look more tired than ever. It just seems to be giving me a puffy face.

Anyone else have issues? I only seem to be able to find postive reviews!

On the upside the eye cream sample I got is doing brilliant things to my eye bags!! Grin

Yes, me! I have some and stopped using it before because it made my skin look really greasy and shiny all the time and seemed to give me spots.

I started using it again recently (after a few months' break) as I thought maybe it wasn't really that bad or maybe my skin was going through a bad patch anyway and I shouldn't let it go to waste.

Anyway, I stopped again a few days ago because exactly the same thing was happening - shiny face, rubbish looking skin, an enormous spot on my nose and several smaller ones. I think I need to give it up as a bad job and admit it's just not for me.

My skin is improving again now I've stopped using it again. It's is much better when I use Neal's Yard rose facial oil. I don't know that it has any age defying properties but it doesn't make my face shiny or spotty so I'm going to go for the short term gain!

I have ANR and have had no positive effects. I'm persevering, as it was a gift from DDs, but my skin is drier, if anything, especially round the lips. (Greasy when it goes on, but dries out overnight). My skin has also been itchy, but that may be down to other products.

is the eye cream EL?

littlepinkpear · 05/01/2013 17:51

Thanks ladies, I thought I just had weird skin. The eye cream is ANR by EL also.

I do want to keep going with it, even though I picked it all up in duty freest still cost £98 for face wash, ANR and the day wear :(

My mum has used it for about 20+ years and has great skin. However she insists on buying the biggest bottles of it for me and I can't use it. My skins gets really conjested with it. If she's not buying that she's buying the Eve Lom cleanser which doesn't agree with me either. Have said it to her but she doesn't listen and it's rolled out again the following Christmas.

I'm using the L'oreal laser renew products since September including the serum and am very happy with them.

CaroleService · 05/01/2013 18:28

I used to love it, but a couple of years ago it seemed to change - became thicker and greasier. I've stopped buying it.

SherbetVodka · 05/01/2013 18:31

It did nothing for me. Didn't make my skin worse but no noticeable benefits either. Very disappointing as I'd heard such good things about it. To be honest, no serum or cream has ever improved my skin. The only thing that's ever made a real difference has been lotions with glycolic acid in. That and hot cloth cleansing.

miche8 · 05/01/2013 19:11

Over the years I've used it a few times when I get given the little trial sized bottles and its never done anything for me either, I found it stung and made my skin dry and itchy, the eye version was the worse. It seems to get great reviews though.

I do like a serum and notice when I stop using one, I like the Clinique turnaround but the boots no.7 perfect and protect one is very good and I can usually stock up when it's 3 for 2 or when they give out vouchers.

ILikeOwls · 05/01/2013 20:08

Hmmm I LOVE ANR except the smell when I'm pregnant pop back to the counter and talk to them. I've always found them helpful - they may even offer an exchange for another serum?

madmomma · 05/01/2013 21:06

I think they'll probably refund you OP. EL are very generous with returns. Personally I love ANR and have tried so many times to find something as effective for less £ and always fail.

Sumayaa · 04/05/2021 02:21

I bought this product for my mom, and she disliked it after using 4 to 5 days it burns her face and she said, she noticed many small pimple and her face got puffy. :’( waste of money. Sad

NeedWineNow · 04/05/2021 09:05

I usually use it and like it. However I had a dermaplanning appointment last week and continued using it the day after my appointment. My face has now got really dry - flaky patches and sore. I had to get some CeraVe to calm it down. I've laid off the ANR for the time being and will reintroduce slowly.

Did nothing at all for me

WellTidy · 05/05/2021 22:53

I’ve used EL for years and their customer service is really good. If I were you, I’d take it back to the counter and show them how it’s impacted your skin.

I absolutely love it, I have to say! I use all EL products at the moment - perfectly clear foaming cleanser, Idealist pore refiner, advanced night repair serum, ANR on my eyes and then daywear moisturiser for dry skin.

My skin is better than it’s been for a few years as I’ve eliminated all non-EL products.

Franksalot · 06/05/2021 15:49

I don’t like it - it gave my skin a reptile looking coating and did nothing for it. I also love EL foaming cleanser and their moisturisers - it’s all I use.

EraOfTheGrey · 06/05/2021 16:11

My DH bought me a huge bottle from duty-free which was lovely of him. I used it for a few weeks but it gave me tiny wee white heads and it seemed to just sit on the surface of my skin. Expensive mistake.

I now just use la roche-posay face wash and moisturiser.
