Jeans

2013 is going to be the year I sort myself out and stop buying badly fitting cheap clothes and get some nice things that fit me properly.

I need new jeans, and I need help as I have no idea wear to start looking. I am a size 10 and 5ft 6.

I have two quite nice pairs from River Island that fit quite well but I live in jeans and need some more and want them to look fabulous.

Any ideas on where I can start my search for the perfect jeans?

m&s jeggings are the best skinny jeans, ime. Don't be put off by the name, they're definitely more jeans than jeggings!

insertsomethingwitty · 31/12/2012 14:50

Thanks. I like h&m as they do specific waist and leg length rather than just a 10 which I like but lots of theirs are low rise and although I am slim I do have a bit of a muffin and with low cut jeans my arse always hangs out if I bend down so need more of a regular waist cut I think. Need to find some nice skinny jeans and some boot cut as well.

Yes m&s jeggings - look like jeans and fit nice, m&s is pretty failsafe for jeans

uptheamp · 31/12/2012 14:59

no the jeggins are awful! baggy and cheap looking, try tk maxx for levis etc

PoppyWearer · 31/12/2012 15:06

I love M&S jeggings.

Realise this might be an age thing. How old are you, OP?

insertsomethingwitty · 31/12/2012 15:07

I want ones that actually are denim rather than denim look. Also nothing that will go all baggy after a few hours. I don't mind paying for something decent, tk Max's is a good idea

Some of the m&s colours are cut really strangely - baggy and horrible. But the good ones are great. No idea why they have different cuts and fabrics in what should be the same style.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 31/12/2012 15:32

The M&S dark denim and black ones are excellent. I don't like the coloured ones. Try them on though because the sizes seem to vary even with seemingly identical pairs.

PoppyWearer · 31/12/2012 16:43

I've noticed with the M&S ones that they are made in different countries, according to the labels?

The denim ones are good, my favourites.

dexter73 · 31/12/2012 18:01

I love Levis. They fit well, don't bag and keep their colour.

Chottie · 31/12/2012 18:05

Another vote for Levis. I am the same height and size as you and they fit me beautifully. :)

IfYoureHappyAndYouKnowIt · 31/12/2012 18:16

Well I have levis and also navy M&S jeggings. Both are brilliant IME Smile

NumbandTrapped · 31/12/2012 22:37

I reckon jeans are like wedding dresses.....what looks great on one person looks terril on another...

Having said that, I just bought some fab scotch and soda skinny skins in the sale, even though I thought that skinny jeans don't work for me as I 'm a bit of a pear with slightly large thighs.....

Oh, and...can I just say that it is soooo liberating to change user name on here!

Djembe · 31/12/2012 23:15

If you like river island jeans you might like Diesel ones. They're my fave, their low rise are the best and superbly flattering on a slim pear. It's the right time of year to catch a bargain with premium denim so hit the shops!

DonaAna · 01/01/2013 10:00

I'd also suggest premium denim. I'm 5'7" and a 10/12 and 7FAM and MiH jeans are the best I've found for my shape. I find good pairs in sales, Yoox.com and The Outnet.
H&M bag quickly, not worth it. My oldest 7FAM lasted for ten years.

mysteryfairy · 01/01/2013 12:00

Maybe look in the Donna Ida clearance? There are some fab bargains with up to 75% off premium denim. A 10 would be a 28ish. A trying on session in selfridges to see what fits well might be a good idea first but once you know what you like all the premium brands can be picked up much cheaper online. I am wearing burgundy skinny jeans from Paige which I bought from yoox right at start of autumn for about £50-£60. Would never have been confident to buy if I didn't already know what I was looking for and they are so much better than top shop or similar which would have only cost me a few quid less.

PeppaPrig · 01/01/2013 12:42

Very tempted to branch out into premium denim as I always wear jeans. What would you recommend for 5'11, size 12? Skinnies make me look like a carrot so prefer flares or bootcut.

DonaAna · 01/01/2013 12:51

Peppa I look better in flares too (7FAM Ginger is my favorite pair of flares). Yoox is a good source, you'll probably need a 29" waist and 34" leg. Second going to a good dept store first to see what really fits you - try on loads and then figure it out, you will avoid the hassle of returns. Donna Ida sale can be good too.

uptheamp · 01/01/2013 12:52

i found some 'second's 7f all mankind jeans for £30 in tk maxx, can't see what's wrong with them

Clure · 01/01/2013 13:58

Island Amelie
topshop Baxters
Primark £9 skinnies are great too, they are fairly high rise so no bum crack on show when you bend down fwink

Alisvolatpropiis · 02/01/2013 18:10

You're the same size and height as me OP...Topshop jeans. Especially the Jamie and Leigh ones.

But I can go into Topshop and know all their size 10 jeans, regardless of cut will fit.

Bella88 · 02/01/2013 18:22

Citizen of Humanity Avedons do wonderful things to ones saggy arse, horribly expensive but worth it if you find some in the sales.
