I've never really worn make up, styled my hair or bothered with how I look. That was fine when I was young and fresh. Now I'm 34 (nearly 35) and I want to look good. I have just tried to curl my hair (and failed) and sorted out my make up, throwing out stuff that doesn't suit me.

issi, I sympathise - my DH is away this week too. At least my 3 year old has stopped saying 'don't want you, want Daddy' when I walk into the room to say hello to him first thing in the morning! Arranging a haircut and doing your nails definitely sounds like a good start. And beebies is perfectly acceptable in the circumstances! I'm not sure of ideas for hair though as I'm quite boring in that department (have had the same hairstyle for about 8 years, but think it suits me so I'm sticking with it!).

Trampy, I didn't investigate mobile hairdressers in the end, though I meant to. It's okay though, because a friend I saw today recommended a hairdresser and I found a voucher on Postcode Gazette for a half-price haircut at that very salon! And within a few hours of talking about it I'd booked an appointment. For tomorrow. And they don't even mind me taking my 10 month old baby with me (my toddler will be at nursery, thank goodness)!

I still need to drink more water though. I just prefer tea and find it hard to resist when I feel tired all the time! Maybe herbal teas are the way forward, as knowing they'll go cold will make me want to drink them.

So this week I bought nail varnish, eye shadow and mascara and I'm going to put it on everyday! I will look pretty!

Now for the clothes :( My complete low esteem is not helping :(

GuyMartinsSideburns · 29/01/2013 18:41

Trampy - yep gotta be lush pots, I'd had some knocking about for ages! Nice to get something for them lol My skin is looking great, and my hands are loving the new cream. Gonna tidy up my nails shortly, not sure if they're long enough for colour yet (I don't want talons but think they just need a bit more length).

Tried on some trousers in h an m today that I liked the look of in their catalogue but christ they were grim in real life. The material was horrible and creasetastic. I also had a look in Topshop but found nowt in there either :/

Even though I've bought bits lately it still feels like I've got nothing to wear!! I don't think the lousy weather helps my mood tbh

GeorginaWorsley · 29/01/2013 19:39

Am in your debt Trampy
Some lovely dresses there.
Like the silver Ebay one and the Amazon one best i think.

GeorginaWorsley · 29/01/2013 20:37

Would need to have it shortened though.

muddlingalongquitenicely · 29/01/2013 20:59

I have been wearing make up for the last 2 days (bb cream, mascara, lipstick and eye liner).

I also set reminders on my phone to make sure I do my face routine and remind myself to have a face mask night, manicures etc if I dont set reminders I wont do it.

I want to get a new nail varnish, but what are the latest colours for spring?? I only really have dark colours already but want to feel like spring is here.

TrampyPants · 30/01/2013 09:22

Thank you Grin I love dress browsing. Georgia, that ebay dress is stunning, a bargain and would look gorgeous on you! It wouldn't cost too much to alter either.

Issie, good shopping! I love denim shirts, and I always do my own nails. Today they are magneta. Do you like this its sienna millers hairdo, it's gorgeous.

Munty, good luck at the hairdressers! You must report back.

Milk, that's a great start, when you have some new clothes and are starting to fabulize, it'll help so much with your self-esteem. I certainly feel so much better now.

Guy, I hate it when that happens. I tried on a skater dress and it was horrific. I had no idea my body was so rank. What have you got? Try putting stuff together that you wouldn't normally try.

Muddling, we'll done and good idea wrt the alarm! This season its matte/leather/suede look and glittery. I tend to stick with my faves. Nails Inc has some great colours. I've got a mirror Metallics from essie in who knows its an ace Shiney metallic lilac.

Today's outfit is one I am proud of: an orange, Grey and cream patterned skirt, a light denim shirt with brown vest underneath, my new knee high boots which I still love, a tan beaded necklace, a waist belt in cream and navy striped material with a brown leather clasp. Full makeup, hair in a low messy bun and magneta nails.

My burgundy suede bikerjacket and an orange scarf with cream stars.

We have a meeting this afternoon at the school about ds (hehas SEN) and his behavior. I'm bringing it.

Bricking. Not bringing. Bloody autocorrect

Trampy you sound gorge today! And Im sure your body is NOT 'rank' (though can I say I roared at that. And thought the same about mine ) Grin I hope everything goes well at the meeting later.

I dont wear skirts, unless its the summer when I'll wear a long black skirt or dress that skims the floor, with sandals and a denim jacket. I have various jeans, boyfriend ones with turn ups I like but I dont know how to wear them in this weather. I have skinnies in various colours, however they are too long. I sometimes think I can live with them, dh says the extra length at my ankle looks cute with ballet pumps etc but Im not sure if I just look like a moron, and Im unsure about getting them taken up as I know sometimes that can change the shape etc with skinnies. I prob should just wear them with a 'I dont give a shit' scowl Grin

When the weather is nice I wear skinnies, chinos, looser trousers etc that I can wear with ballet pumps, those slipper-looking shoes and things like that. Usually with vest tops and a cardy, or sleeveless shirts. Tops that 'skim' me but arent too baggy. Im 5' 3", 34 bust, 28 waist, and 35 hips.

Today Im in that bloody stripey black and grey dress (which is getting far too bobbly for my liking) leggings and those boots (which need resoling). Hair in low ponytail, side fringe, mascara, blusher, powder and primer.

I need some knee high boots that will go with everything, dont have much of a heel and arent too pricey. If I dont find something soon I'll have to go about in my dm's Grin

TrampyPants · 30/01/2013 10:22

Skater dresses are just so unflattering. They look daft on anyone over 12. Try skinnier with ankle boots (slouchy) do you have any wedge shoeboots or trainers? Boyfriend jeans with roll ups look great with them this is cool And this
