www.johnlewis.com/338309/Product.aspx I'm quite fat curvy, a size 16 and 5ft 7 - is it going to make me look like a ship in full sail? Seems like a LOT of material, I'm worried I'll just look like an enormous tent. I'm planning to wear it with gold mesh flats or jewelled sandals.

It could go either way - could look amazing or could look awful depending on how it falls on your body imo.

If you go in at middle then it will look fab.

HorraceTheChristmasOtter · 30/12/2012 15:30

If you are fat with a waist it will look wonderful. Fat without a waist, it will be iffy, but possibly ok.

Karbea · 30/12/2012 15:37

Umm to be 100% honest I think it would only suit someone super skinny. I think you'd be better off with something alpine with the waist bit under your boobies.

I'm fat with a waist, luckily. We shall see!

i think it will look great as you are tall and 16 isn't massive. have coveted the dress in rl, the fabric is lush

uptheamp · 30/12/2012 19:46

what colour did you get?

pookeysmum · 30/12/2012 19:54

I've got this on the green. It's lovey on and flattering (I'm a 14/16 but a few inches shorter than you). Size down and you may need to have it taken up (I needed 6 inches off and it was much longer than the stated length on the website). The bronze is a great fabric too - nice and heavy and hangs well.
