I've seen it mentioned a few times as good for wardrobe/outfit planning, but have no idea what I'm doing- any gurus about with any tips and magic?

Well I just go on the women's fashion section and scroll through. Or I use their search engine if there's anything I want to look at in particular.

Start following people whose style / pins you admire. In a way Pin is a bit like a magazine tailored to your personal preferences. You can see very quickly what is trendy, how to combine items, what to wear under a jacket, how to layer, accessorize etc.

I have Pinboards for my AW and SS wardrobes. When I buy something online, I add a pic of the item to my board - that way I can quickly check whether the new item coordinates with what I already have. I also keep my color analysis wheel on my wardrobe boards for quick reference (I can check it in my phone when I shop).

I love fashion and tend to follow high fashion (past and present). Nina Garcia and Katja Anderson and Veera Mykkänen are prolific pinners, very good people to follow. It's also a way to stay in touch and exchange style ideas with friends - you can find and invite friends.

I use it to pin stuff I like from on-line shopping sites. I used to do the same with Microsoft Paint in the days before pinterest!

It's interesting to see how I go off certain items after a few days and it's also a good way to keep track of things I might like to buy in the sales.

I'm thinking of doing a daily outfits board too so that I can keep track of what clothes I actually wear and so on.

Oooh, ok, I think I'm getting there Grin
Daily outfit posts sound like a very wise idea, might jump on your band wagon if you don't mind?

Some sites don't seem to have a 'pin it' button, is there a way to do it still?

amistillsexy · 29/12/2012 21:36

You can download your own button from the Pinterest site. It sits on your toolbar ( ^^up there), and when you click on it, all the pictures on that webpage come up, and you can choose which one you'd like to pin. It then gives you options about which board to pin it to, or to create a new board, and to make your own comment.

I Luff Pinterest, I do! Grin

Am downloading pinterest app onto my iPad to see if that does same thing. Thanks!

Djembe · 29/12/2012 21:47

On iPhone and iPad you have to add a 'Pin It' bookmark - think it explains how to do it on the Pinterest website.

I use it to save images of stuff I want - like fantasy shopping. It makes me feel as though I've bought it and makes me more savvy. I've also used it to bookmark items I plan to buy later or in sale. I keep meaning to catalogue all my clothes with it, would be interested to see how others use it in this way.

QueenCadbury · 29/12/2012 22:09

DonaAna I have just found your boards and have been drooling Grin

I use it for inspiration and ideas for putting clothes together and accessorising. I could literally spend hours on there. Since doing it I've realised that most of the things I have pinned are very black/grey/navy and I've now started buying a lot more clothes in these colours using colour for accents. Items in my wardrobe now go together a lot better and I feel more put together.

I also have fantasy wardrobe board where I have lots of totally gorgeous evening dresses and the Chanel 2.55 that I can only dream of!

SantasNaughtySack · 29/12/2012 22:17

Is it frowned upon to ask for your links? I'd love to see what other people are pinning!

Thanks Queen! Blush
I update this board most often - it's the inspiration board. Feel free to follow. Other boards are linked to it via profile.

Like others said, it can be a good idea to keep a board for fantasy shopping.
