I need some temporary jeans

I have recently lost 2 stone and have 9 pounds to go to reach my target weight. M Yay! It means that I can fit back into my work clothes, which is just as well as I am going back to work next week after 15 months maternity-annual-accumulated leave (less yay).

I work pt and have a 4 yo (not yet at school) and a 1 yo. All my SAHM-running-around-after-the-kids type clothes are too big and all my jeans flap about when I am doing all that running around.... I need some smaller jeans, but I am reluctant to spend much on any just yet, in case I am a smaller size when i get to target. I have no jeans left from Pre DD, they were all knackered and mumsy-bootleggy.

So, I am 5'8", curvy and chunky of thigh, and somewhere between a 14 and a 12. I need cheap jeans! DH is taking the children away overnight to his parents tommorow, I have 24 hours child-free shopping time. Where to go? All I can think of is Sainsbury's for cheap, functional but not too hideous. And what style?

These Oasis cherry jeans are now £25, not sure if it's still more than yuo wanted to spend?

I have them in khaki and also dark purple (bought today!) and they're really comfy and keep their shape.

I did size down though as I wanted them slim fitting, so I'd go for the 12 if you're between sizes.

Congrats on the weight loss too Xmas Smile

mathanxiety · 27/12/2012 21:53

Well done for losing all that weight [wow]

Trawl through a few second hand shops and find jeans there to tide you over until you get to where you want to be? That has worked well for me in the post maternity phase. Interim jeans are easy to find right after Christmas in my experience. Wear them for a few weeks and donate them right back.

itsmineitsmine · 27/12/2012 21:54

Asda jeans are a really flattering fit and good for the chunky of thigh

meditrina · 27/12/2012 22:00

Sainsbury's have minimiser jeans which might be suitable. I think any supermarket jeans would be the good bet.

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 27/12/2012 22:03

i am the same height, big thighs, size 14 arse
i can really recommend the New Look £9.99 skinnies
they are not too low waisted, so minimal muffin top, and not to skimpy on the thigh - here

GoldPlatedNineDoors · 27/12/2012 22:05

Primark super skinnies £11 are amazing. I am chunky of thigh same size as you and they fit so well and are so comfy I can even nap in them

CharlotteBronteSaurus · 27/12/2012 22:09

I've got the primark ones too, but have more muffin issues with those

Cybbo · 27/12/2012 22:10

Primark. Seriously. They're my permanent jeans now

BikeRunSki · 27/12/2012 22:13

Ooh thank you all.
Rather exited about trying out skinnies!
I can go to town tomorow (on the bus with no buggy and listening to iPod) and get to all those places.

I'll try the Oasis ones, but the NL/Primarni ones are nearer the price I want to pay, but, if I can get into a 12 anywhere I'll pay anything !

I am 5'8" and size 10-12, but also chunky of thigh. Id suggest you go onto the 7 For All Mankind site and check your measurements (waist, hip and inside leg) against the size charts, which are very accurate. Their jeans are great for women who aren't shaped like men, and the jeans stretch but don't go baggy. The problem is the price, so find the size on Ebay. I got 2 pairs this way for £55 and they are fantastic. You'll be able to sell them again once they become too big.

BreakOutTheTinselSantasAComing · 27/12/2012 22:17

I have the Oasis Cherry jeans too, in indigo, burgundy and red. They're fab! They're skinny but not too skinny, and hold you in in the saddlebag area. Slightly higher too, so no muffin top. I'm a 10-12, more of a 12, but I get the 10 in these too, as they pin you in a bit more. Love them!

ItLooksLikeRainDear · 27/12/2012 22:18

Well done! I lost 2.5 stone this year after having DD and in the same position as you. I bought some skinny jeans from sainsburys for £12. But they also often have their 25% off deals just after Christmas. Hope you find some you like!

Mumelie · 27/12/2012 22:56

New Look jeans are great for a quick fix - helped me through my weight loss. Skinnies keep their shape too, even after a few washes.

LeaveIt · 27/12/2012 23:04

Bon Marche do good jeans, very cheap in three inside leg sizes at least. Well done on the weight loss.

Another vote for New Look, they are fantastic and great value

Prolificmincepiebreeder · 28/12/2012 17:48

Primark! I like them so much I now have 3 pairs!

BikeRunSki · 28/12/2012 18:30

OK, so I've been shopping. I am a 12!!!!!!!!!!!11 I am so super chuffed!

Oasis - tried on the Cherry jeans, OK, but I really want denim rather than coloured if I am only going to have one pair of jeans for a while. Then it occurred to me what do I wear on my feet with skinnies? All my winter footwear is tall boots. Can I still do tucked in skinnies with boots?

New Look - Scary full of mad teenagers sale shopping, didn't try anything on.

Primark - was in full Jumble Sale mode, couldn't find a 12 in any colour. Wanted to leave asap, was full and smelly.

M&S - Had a word with myself and reminded myself that I have lost weight and may be 40+ but look a lot younger and I do not need to look at M&S anymore! Left.

Monsoon - all flarey

(Boots Opticians - found some frames I like at last! )

Next - had hardly anything left in winter sale stuff and hardly any spring stuff in.

TK MAxx - Couldn't find anything in a 12

Sainsbury's - Tried on skinnies in dark denim - couldn't get them over my calves! I do have very big calves, always have had (it's all that Biking Running and Skiing). So I tried the straight leg! They are perfect, £14 and just loose enough at the ankle to get my boots under, so solves footwear quandry!

I think I will branch out into coloured skinnies in the summer when I can wear Cons and Birkies again.

I AM A SIZE 12!!!!!!!!!!!! I am so exited I want to text my SLimming World leader!

Primark h&m or new look all good jeans under £30

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 28/12/2012 18:40

Tesco
£10

Choice of styles , length

(I'm 5'5" and wear a standard length size 12. I've had 2 pairs for nearly a year ,still good. And a pair for 3 years -which are starting to look a bit Status Quo now) Blush

But hey - £10. What can you say?

Startail · 28/12/2012 18:40

Well done!
I would be content if all 16s, rather than M&S size 16 fitted.

BikeRunSki · 28/12/2012 18:44

No Tesco where I am, not one with many clothes anyway.
H&M seemed to be very cheap and flimsy for less that a tenner, or £30+ and all very low and too skinny for me.
ANyway. I have my temporary jeans. Wonder if I'll be going back to Saino's in a few weeks time for a 10? Hmm....
