Help me find a parka coat please!

I'd like a parka coat, not too fussed what colour but needs to be below bum length, slightly fitted if possible, with hood. I'll wear it with jeans but also over work gear when it's freezing so nothing too scruffy.

Could maybe spend up to around £80 but less would be preferred! I can get to the shops this week to look but would like an idea of where to look in advance before I get lost in the sale crushes!

Oh, and I'm 31, 5ft 2 and a 10-12.

Thank you for any suggestions Xmas Smile

Do you want stylish or practical? I have a Land's end Squall Parka, I am really very impressed. Totally warm and dry in today's horrible weather, hood stays up, loads of pockets etc. Perhaps needs good accessories to fend off the middle aged look! They seem to have numerous superseded versions on the website in different colours and sizes.

I did also look at Helly Hansen parkas in John Lewis - "Belfast" IIRC. I don't know if it's padded.

There are a few previous threads on this subject, will try to link

DD1 got an excellent one in H&M two years ago, which still looks good. It was only about £35 too.

I'm looking for a grey one but failing so far, so will be watching this carefully. :)

Thanks for your replies - I'll have a look at Lands End but am worried about them being aging! Also I thought Helly Hansen was expensive but maybe in the sale they'll be okay.

I want stylish AND practical which is the problem!

H&M is a good shout, I will have a look there. I just normally dread how busy it is and the jumble-sale-ness of the one near me.

I like the look of this from Mango but wish it was discounted a bit more. I may have a look at it though in real life.

I've ordered this one from Tesco. It also comes in cream and khaki.

The mango one linked to looks more like this to me though. A bit smarter.

I got mine from a Gap outlet shop for £45, but noticed the other day it's now something like £37. It has all the things you're looking for I think, I'm also 31 and need it for same reasons as you.

Have had some compliments so would recommend!

P.s Gap one also has removable fluffy liner.

I've just bought this from New Look, it's nicer in RL though & v comfy :)

JojoMcbean · 27/12/2012 14:46

Have a look on asos. Lots of nice ones there.

Thanks for the additional suggestions, I like the M&S and New Look ones.

However I went to the shops today and came back with this - a bit shorter than I'd intended but I think it suits me as I'm only short so it doesn't swamp me like some other coats! It's really cosy and hopefully I'll get some wear out of it this winter.

I wouldn't have chosen it if I'd only shopped online so it's good that I braved the shops!
