Dh has done most of his xmas shopping in Maplins. He sent me a text last week saying he was going there (again) and asking if there was anything I would like......

Actually I would like my birthday present from October too, but I am not holding my breath as he realised it would mean going to a real shop (not online) with me along for trying on purposes.

Well we did presents yesterday (complicated reasons) and my DP got me nothing: which was great. Nothing is exactly what I wanted from him as he is shit at buying presents, there is nothing that I really need and I'd rather we kept the money or he spent it on the children.

Only, I made the mistake of getting him something small but thoughtful on behalf of the children. He then felt guilty and announced he was going to get me something today. I protested. He went to the shops. He came home hours later, went into the kitchen with wrapping paper and came out with some crap gift set of bath stuff from Boots that I neither wanted nor needed. This is why I prefer him not to bother. I find it depressing when he goes and spends money on crap that I don't want and then have to be grateful for.

My DH hasn't even made it to any shops to do any Christmas shopping.

He bought me one thing which I said I would like online (I ordered it) and then gave him some other suggestions by bookmarking some items of clothing online so he could 'choose' from them and so I had a surprise. Well, he ordered me something, and I saw the branded parcel arrive so I know exactly what he's got me Xmas Hmm, so surprise gone!

I have chosen and bought all the other presents for DD, his family and my family. And wrapped it all etc.

Maybe someone will come along to this thread and say that their DH has done everything and they haven't had to lift a finger Xmas Grin

I think that's unlikely Panda. Xmas Grin

I don't do DH's family presents - I had an epiphany while shopping for XH's massive family and vowed never to do it again. I have been shopping with him today though...

my dp went into town with a list this morning as he had texted his family to see what they would like. He came back with none of it as he 'couldn't find anything' on the list.
I then had to run into town at 3pm and bought the lot in an hour. Am hoping he managed to buy me something this morning as there was nothing for me on the list!
