Hair help

Last year I had hair that went long past my waist, it was hard work but when I made an effort it looked great. Fast forward - baby born, 5 months later I'm going bald in parts from the weight of my hair and hormones, so I get a bob, yes you guessed it, over time its become the 'Mummy Bob'. I hate it, but my hair is not growing again, it used to grow loads but now since my DS (19 months) it just doesn't.... So I'm wondering, do I keep going with the boring Mummy Bob or do I (tomorrow !!!!) go for a real chop and get a shorter hopefully trendier style. I'm a bit overweight, but have good cheekbones, brunette and good eyebrows (I know that sounds weird, but I think its good with short hair). What do you think? Am thinking something along the lines of this? The brown Mandy Moore style:

Am also worried as I'm 40 next year and think if I go short will I forever be short, can I be feminine and pretty with short?

I think that is gorgeous and will look great as long as you have a good hair dresser. I think earrings need to be worn with a short cut to keep it feminine.
