Thinking of having a teeny tiny stud put in my nose. Does it hurt more than having your ears done and what if I decide I don't like it - will it leave a scar?

TIA

it doesnt hurt very much, about the same as ears IMO

and it doesn't leave a scar, it leaves a tiny weeny hole that just looks like a pore or something, you can't see it unless really really close up

i think its pretty, go for it

InLoveWithDavidTennant · 18/12/2012 17:28

i had mine done at 17 (31 now) and it didnt hurt. my ears hurt more tbh

it was done with a gun back then... not sure if they still do it like that now

Encouraging! Will investigate further at Claire's Accessories tomorrow

Do NOT get it pierced with a gun or go anywhere near Claire's Accessories. Go to a proper piercing studio which operates correct sterile procedures. Guns cannot be properly sterilised and cause tissue trauma. Plus the stud they use will be an ear stud which is totally unsuitable for a nose piercing.

QueenOfCats · 18/12/2012 17:36

For the love of God don't go to Claire's!!!!

I've had it done twice, 1st time with a gun and it was like being punched in the face. That left a scar and the hole was large and sort of.....ragged.

Second time I had it done with a needle in a tattoo and body piercing place. It was a breeze! Hardly hurt, minimal eye watering, perfect, tiny neat little hole, healed faster and you can hardly notice it when my stud is out.

If you intend to wear a tiny discreet stud, a needle is the way to go Wink

Your post was spot on Natasha - I forgot to mention the tissue trauma and sheer vileness of an earring back stuck up your nose, plus the tissue trauma so glad you came along and posted Grin

God I love MN! Thanks so much for the advice x

It didn't hurt me at all :) Ears did though.

PrattingAroundTheChristmasTree · 18/12/2012 19:09

When I say my ears hurt, I meant more that I could feel them but with the nose piercing, I asked if they had done it yet!

PrattingAroundTheChristmasTree · 18/12/2012 19:10

Oh and I've had mine out for a couple of years now and there is no scar.

Meta4 · 18/12/2012 20:52

I wanted mine done, slowly got over the urge, and now this thread has reignited my desire...!

winemakesmeclever · 18/12/2012 20:57

Okay going to buck the "it didn't hurt" trend by saying it HURT LIKE HELL but I really love mine, it looks very cute. Please don't go to Claire's Accessories, and make sure that where you DO go shows you where they sterilise all their kit.

Ilovecrossfit · 18/12/2012 21:05

That would possibly explain why I was in sooo much pain for weeks, about 6 yrs ago had my nose done with a gun...Jeez that hurt!! And it never healed I gave up after 7 months...and took it out.
So please listen and dont go to claire's

MoomieAndFreddie · 19/12/2012 07:53

oh yeah another vote for NOT going to claires

i went to a tattoo studio for mine and they did it with a needle

Another vote for proper needle at a proper piercing or tattoo place. I've had all sorts of piercings, so do know what I'm talking about

Mrswolowiz - don't worry, I too have a bump on my nose and find that a nose piercing detracts a little Wink

The link you gave - the girl with the pink bob - that's my nose. Mine also veers a little to the left (due to an injury) and I have my nose pierced on the right, it evens it out a bit Grin

pickledparsnip · 19/12/2012 19:07

Definitely get it done at a proper place. Mine was done at the local market with a gun when I was 14 (rebel). It hurt like hell, and has a big lump next to it for ages.

I'm 28 now and still have it pierced. Nearly always worn a ring, but think little studs look lovely.
