Nude heels with black tights? Help me, please

I am a fashion disaster. I am going out to a naice restaurant on Friday. I have a black dress and some nude heels (disclaimer: I never wear heels).

Would the shoes look OK with black tights? I cannot not wear dark tights (IYSWIM) as I have horrid legs.

oh no, nude heels won't look right with black tights at all. What's wrong with your legs? I have terrible legs too but with tights on and lashings of fake tan they're passable and they're riddled with thread veins and scars.

Well, it can look fabulous. It's certainly a 'thing, but you need to be able to carry it off.

No no no! go for nude tights - I have dubious legs too and as long as the skirt is around the knee, can get away with them.

The only person I've seen get away with this wore: opaque black FOOTLESS glossy tights, indigo silk tunic dress, black waist belt with silver buckle, plus long silver and black necklaces layered, and nude courts. It looked lovely - is there any chance you could style yours similarly?

A friend of mine wears the very sheer nude summer tights, plus nude micronets over the top (she has scars etc on her legs) and that looked lovely and gives her just the right amount of coverage to feel confident.

I'm sure I saw Alison Young on QVC wearing black tights with nude heels the other week , I was shocked!

I would go for nude tights, very very sheer.

The idea with 'nude' shoes (and 'nude' can cover many different shades of skintones) is to try to broadly match your natural skintone to your shoes, so as to reduce the contrast with your legs and your shoes as much as possible. You're aiming for a sort of optical illusion - a leg-lengthening effect. If you have very dark skin, you would do this by sticking to dark shoes; for any other skintone, though, you'll need to find a shade of 'nude' tights that matches your natural tone as closely as possible. That's if you want to wear the shoes :) Try M&S.

Sally Hansen leg make up with nude tights over top if your legs have varicous veins etc or footless tights has my vote :)

If I saw someone wearing black tights with nude shoes id think they were trying to channel the sixties, not in a good way
