So, I have a new person to buy for this year, my brother's girlfriend. I bought her a perfume gift set - Guerlain Shalimar which I think she'll like. Then I found out that she will be joining us on Christmas day and so I decided that I ought to buy her more than just one token present. So I've got a few little bits to go with it, there is one I'm not sure on though. I don't really know her all that well but she's young, girly and stylish. Due to budget constraints, this is what I have:
Guerlain Shalimar perfume gift set
Dorothy Perkins faux fur scarf
2 x novels
Pair of Primark Pyjamas
I only bought them because I know her new house is quite cold, and they are nice thermal ones that I have myself so I know they're nice and wear well. I'm doubting myself now though because I don't want to look like a skinflint!

I think that's a great little pile. i think she'll be touched you've bothered to think of her :)

MsOnatopp · 17/12/2012 12:25

I'd be chuffed to bits. I am young, girly, and (when I can be arsed) stylish. So I can't imagine her turning her nose up. I have a cold house, PJs are always very warmly welcome!!

That's great to hear, thanks guys, I don't actually know if she wears pjs, but if not, they're nice just to wear around the house.

I would be really happy with that Grin

shelldockley · 17/12/2012 13:41

Thankyou, the pjs don't stand out as the booby prize then?!

No, not in my opinion at least. I love a good pair of PJs!

JaxTellerIsMyFriend · 17/12/2012 15:44

I think your presents are lovely, the only thing that wouldnt be my cuppa is the perfume. It is such a personal thing though, you either love/hate those notes in Shalimar.

Personally I think she will be very chuffed that you have thought of her. And of course, if you bought them for me I would never be so rude as to say I didnt like anything.

I love my pj s Grin

LittlePandaBear · 17/12/2012 21:15

It sounds like you've bought her loads of lovely things.

My first thought though when looking at your list is that there's a lot of things there, she may not have the funds to buy you that much in return so could feel a little embarrassed if she's just bought you some socks or a small Boots gift set. I know you don't give to receive but she could feel a bit awkward.

Obviously you know your family and I don't so please take my comments with a pinch of salt!

permaquandry · 17/12/2012 21:24

You sound lovely, my only concern would be the shalimar, it is a very distinctive/strong smell, could you swap it for a more MOR perfume, or leave it out altogether?

Have a wonderful christmas, I hope you get lots of nice things too.

permaquandry · 17/12/2012 21:25

Oh Gawd, ignore me, I'm thinking of samsara...!

shelldockley · 18/12/2012 12:14

Thanks for all the replies! I think she'll go in with my brother, so I should be right with the amount of presents. The Shalimar I chose because I know she likes strong floral scents and I love Guerlain and it happened to be on offer! Too strong do we think? There was also one of the Agent Provacateur ones on offer.
