How do I know if I would suit a fringe?

I fancy a change with my hair but I don't want to make a big mistake (have only just grown it past my shoulders after the "cutting it to ear length" mistake).

I used to have a fringe when I was a child but grew it out aged about 12. It was one that my mum had cultivated over the years so wasn't very stylish and reached halfway around my head.

I really fancy one like Zooey Deschanel (?) and have tried to use hairmixer to superimpose her hair on my face but it looks ridiculous as it doesn't quite match up. Are there any rules about what faces suit fringes? I don't want to end up like my friend did in our teens, she had a fringe cut in and looked like a child. Not a good look when you're 18.

Help! Thanks.

I'm good at wingeing! Good idea though, thanks ICouldBeYou, would painting my forehead have the same effect? Grin
