Do I have to just suck it up and keep this dress and maybe buy a new one? :-(

I bought a dress from Krisp, as I am skint but have a wedding reception to go to next week. I am a size 10 in Krisp, but had to order online as they didn't have in the shop near me, and the dress only came in S, M or L. Ordered a M as it states S is 8-10 and M is 10-12.

I received the dress today, it is nude with black lace over the top. Tried it on, all was fine, looked nice, little tight, but that's how I like it Grin I looked in the mirror and just below my bum was a hole in the lace Angry I took it off and examined it, and some other parts of the lace looked a little worse for wear. It had been in my possession for all of 5 minutes Sad

I really love the dress, and don't think the tear would be too noticeable, but am I right in thinking that it must be very bad quality? What if I'd have tried it on in a shop? And if I wear it to the reception I will end up with it ripped all over the place, won't I?

What can I do?

send it back. you know you have to. its not of merchantable quality and they are in breach of contract under the consumer trading act. its only going to get worse.

bishboschone · 12/12/2012 14:26

Krisp is not very good quality.. Call them and tell them it's damaged and to send you a new one free postage . You can send the other one back for a refund .

BumsyClugger · 12/12/2012 14:48

But if I ask them to send me another one I'll just get the same shoddy dress won't I? Will they refund me as well?

doubt they will refund you as well. yes same shoddy dress - assuming that is the problem rather than a fault or somone accidentally damaging.

how cheap is it and how often do you want to wear it? ie if its very cheap and you won't wear it again i would ask for replacement - ie think in terms of cost per wear.

bishboschone · 12/12/2012 16:08

Yes but hopefully not one with a hole in. If you don't like it send it back as faulty .

mirpuppet · 12/12/2012 16:27

Send back as faulty and look elsewhere for a dress.

You wouldn't not want to risk a hole at the wedding.

BumsyClugger · 12/12/2012 17:42

That's what I'm thinking, don't want holes to start appearing while I'm there.

It was £22.99 plus a fiver postage, so not cheap when I am as skint as I am Grin but I love how it looks, but can just imagine even the new one falling apart while I'm wearing it.

Oh well, the search for a dress starts again Sad

Look at Dorothy Perkins for dresses. You should find a nice one for the same sort of price.

bishboschone · 12/12/2012 17:46

I would call them and say its faulty can you refund me postage as there is no time to send another ( white lie may be necessary ) .

MerylStrop · 12/12/2012 17:47

They are obliged to accept a return as you bought it online, faulty or not
Send it back, get a refund and get something else.

bishboschone · 12/12/2012 17:47

Why should you be out of pocket? Dptreat20 gives you 20 % off Dorothy Perkins ..

bishboschone · 12/12/2012 17:59

I have a 25 % off new look too if you want it but its one use only so pm me.

prettywhiteguitar · 12/12/2012 18:07

Asos is cheap and reasonable quality

BumsyClugger · 12/12/2012 19:21

Thank you all. I am sending it back tomorrow for a refund as I can't take the risk of waiting for another shit dress. Such a shame, I've been lusting over that dress for weeks and I get it and its crap Grin

Thanks for the DP code and the offer of the new look one, but I think I'm going to actually go out and try dresses on so I know they're ok this time :)

Send them an email, advising them you are returning and would like a postage refund as well as a full refund. They might try and say no, but under the distance selling regulations if you are returning all items from an order, you are entitled to a postage refund. You do, however, have to pay return postage if it specifies it in their return policy.
