NORTH FACE PARKAS AND BROOKLYN JACKET- anyone?

Hi Ladies- give me your opinions please.

Does anyone have either of these? I am thinking of buying a down parka or jacket (I don't want one from Uniqlo because I don't like the "Michelin tyre" effect).

North Face have a parka and some jackets that are down filled but have a more " city look".

However, they are £££. I have found them on the web for around £210 compared with RRP of £310 etc.

If you have one- are they warm and possibly too warm for city shopping ( ie London).

Do they look stylish?

How does the length of the parka and the jacket compare? I am short to average height and don't want to be swamped.

Thanks you!

I have a North Face Parka and a down coat from the Uniqlo-Theory T Down Collection which is Michelin style.

The North Face Parka may not have the rings visible but thats because it have an overlay of waterproofed fabric - it makes me look like a Yeti, it's very warm though and I love it but I most definitely would not call it a stylish coat.

The Uniqlo one, despite the Michelin rings has a more flattering cut and does look more stylish and urban especially when the hood is removed but is significantly less warm.

I bought the arctic parka last month. Yes it is warm, I would say definitely too warm for London. So far if I wear anything other than a long sleeved t shirt underneath I am sweltering, this includes on the school run this week with temps of -3!!
Stylish? Er no, defo not, their main purpose is warmth. I have lovely wool coats for that.
The Brooklyn is much more city-like and quite a bit shorter, I think the belt helps. Best plan is to go somewhere they have both and try them on. Then order from wherever you can get the best price.

ruby you are clearly a hot blooded woman - i comfotably wear my North Face Parka when it's under 10 degrees. Dh wears his (- boys version) into London but this morning he has needed his merino thermal top underneath his suit - first time this year though.
