I'm wearing this to a wedding at the end of December:

Hobbs

I don't want freeze but I don't know what to wear over the top of it. The only thing I can think of is a faux fur stole or cover up like this but I reckon most of the female guests will be wearing that or something like it!

Any ideas? I'm going to wear flat shoes because I'm a wimp and don't want to trip when I do my reading, and I won't bother with a bag as DH is my handbag will carry my purse in his pocket, so whatever it is that I get only needs to match the dress, if you see what I mean.

Any help gratefully received!

I'd go with a simple wee structured jacket and thermal underwear. this would be great with the dress but maybe it's too much of a contrast for you? Copper would be stunning but maybe this one is too long and boxy. black?

notMarlene · 11/12/2012 20:07

this would be fab wit it

I must just say, much as I like the dress isn't it rather summery for a winter do? Does it come over differently IRL?

AntoinetteCosway · 11/12/2012 20:21

Oh my God I love that hat! I hadn't even thought about what to wear on my head...

I like the black bolero-thanks for finding that. Half price as well! I'm not sure of Planet's sizing-is it pretty true do you know? I'm a size 8 with big boobs Blush

I just don't want to end up stealing DH's jacket!

It is quite summery, yep...am hoping that as it's long it'll be evening appropriate and I can warm it up somehow!

Not sure about planet sizing I'm afraid, you could always order a couple and return I suppose.

Shoe wise, how about these black t-bar flats nice detail and would be subtle enough under the long dress. would reflect the hat nicely too.

But thermals are a must I'd say - spaghetti sleeved vest or two, thermal pants, thermal tights?

AntoinetteCosway · 11/12/2012 20:42

Love those shoes too. You're good at this! Am definitely wearing thermals. cos I'm sexy

Me too, wonder if they would be too busy? Probably not?

wonderful bargain necklace?

plainer

bracelets? Maybe too delicate? But then you are very slim.

Something along those sort of lines should head off any potential frumpyness...

I think angora would be genuinely warm (as a pose to fake fur) you can find cream or black angora bolero's.....like this one other colours trickier.... what's your colouring?

AntoinetteCosway · 11/12/2012 22:11

For jewellery I was thinking of wearing a very delicate white gold and diamond bracelet along with some massive, sparkly chandelier type earrings (sadly not real diamonds!). The green looks nice with gold but I usually wear white gold or silver so I think I'm going to stick with it...

My colouring is very pale, rosy cheeked, mid brunette. Hair is long and naturally messy wavy. I like that angora cardigan a lot but I'm a bit worried about looking like I'm part of the bridal party if I wear white or cream...I was thinking maybe a pewter-y grey or black shot through with silver would look nice if I can find such a thing! If not I think I'll go with straight black.

That bolero does come in black but is sold out everywhere except in size 14 and 16! Gah.

Just found m-<a class="break-all" href="//uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.5/2930431151this" rel="nofollow" target="_blank">uk.monsoon.co.uk/view/product/uk_catalog/mon_1,mon_1.5/2930431151this in Monsoon. (Hope the link works, their mobile site is a bit dodgy sometimes.) I quite like it but wonder how flattering it is on...

Another option is to wear a skinny black tuxedo jacket, which I already have. Not sure.

Messed that up. It's called the Diamond jacket.
