When your own mother remarks on how lovely the boots you're wearing are and insists on popping into the shop to buy a pair.

Or is it worse - have I just discovered GRAN boot? Grin

Was going to say same thing. 70 Chelsea type boots very in now.

Snowkey · 12/12/2012 07:27

Liked the Clarks boots but they were very unflattering, I need no help with chunking up my legs. Sad

ifancyashandy · 12/12/2012 07:43

Chelsea Boots are NOT Mum Boots! CBsare round toed, low heel, elastic at the sides. MBs are square toed, square / flat at the back heeled and about 2 inch heels. CBs are fab. MBs are not Grin

Bunbaker · 12/12/2012 08:33

What are Chelsea boots?

TrillsCarolsOutOfTune · 12/12/2012 08:45

I was wearing my mum boots yesterday, but they are more like the classic mum boot (traditionally worn with over-washed blue bootcut jeans that are a bit too short)

(that picture is not quite right they should have square toes)

It's basically a 90s or early 2000s thing.

Just because your mum likes them does not make them mum boots.

dollyxdaydreamer · 12/12/2012 16:07

Are these Chelsea or mum boots?

ifancyashandy · 12/12/2012 21:34

Trills, they're not quite Mum Boots, you're quite correct. A slightly higher heel but it needs to be an oblong - wider at the back but narrow from the side thus.

Must be work with ankle skimming boot cuts jeans or black (polyester) trousers.

ifancyashandy · 12/12/2012 21:36

Dolly, ah, no - they are neither! They are derivative of a cowboy boot and were first styled thus by Acne. They are in fact Pistol rip offs. It's a subtle difference but all of this hugely important detail is why I love fashion! They are lovely boots BTW!

TheCountessOlenska · 12/12/2012 21:37

My Mum wears better boots than me. And I wear pretty good boots Wink

NigellasGuest · 12/12/2012 21:47

OP I'm impressed with your mum - mine would never wear boots like that and you should be pleased about your mum, as opposed to worrying about the boots IYSWIM.

I wear these boots virtually every day - can someone please tell me they are NOT mum boots??

NigellasGuest · 12/12/2012 21:48

oh and the boots ifancyashandy linked to have made me feel a little ill ...

ifancyashandy · 12/12/2012 21:57

They are Chelsea Boots (but the brogue version, obvs!)

theoriginalandbestrookie · 12/12/2012 22:01

Oh I do like the original boots, may have to pay a visit to Clarks

Hobbitation · 12/12/2012 22:06

I'm more into my new lace up ankle boots this year than long boots. When I can be bothered to extricate myself from my Wombats, that is.

Wombats

Bunbaker · 13/12/2012 08:21

So, what are Chelsea boots then?

NigellasGuest · 13/12/2012 09:11
