Didriksons sizing help please

So after much searching have decided on the Lindsey coat, but i have read that their sizing is quite generous. I am usually a 10 (poss 10/12 bottom half) but am currently 9 wks preg so maybe will be expanding over the winter, if things go well.

Should i size up to a 12? Stick to a 10? i want to wear it next winter too so i would rather it just fit to the end of this winter by which i will be 4/5 mnths rather than completely drown me and have to buy something else this time next year. I know its not the most stylish coat but it looks warm for the school run, chasing DCs in the park etc.

Also i love the look of the purple or the blue (am a HoC winter). which would you go for?

Oooh, that looks lovely. I really want that one. I have a very similar one but (sadly) minus the fluffy trim on hood. They do come up big.

I'm an 8-10 and I got a 6 (it was all they had in stock) and it fits perfectly. I would probably get the 10 if I were you although I wouldn't expect it to last you your whole pregnancy. It obviously depends on your body shape and lots of people do seem to manage with their normal clothes but I was showing by 12 weeks and needed maternity clothes then. There was no way I could have squeezed into a non-maternity coat even if I'd sized up. You might be better off getting a maternity coat cheap and 2nd hand on ebay and then getting a Didriksons for next winter. I just wouldn't want to spend that amount of money on something that might not fit me in a few months time.

I have just invested in a Didriksons coat and LOVE it. I would agree with Rambling that it's an expensive buy and you're probably better off buying a coat that will fit nicely when you're not pregnant. You don't know how big you're going to get and hopefully the Didriksons will last a few years.
I'm a size 10 and bought a 36 which i think is a 'small'. I tried a 'medium' and it was much too big.

thank you. i hadnt considered how big i was going to get - denial perhaps!!! is there such a thing as a down / warm maternity coat? tbh i have never owned a maternity coat! i was rather naively thinking that i may not get big until the end of winter (baby due beginning of july). but perhaps thats just hopeful!!!

I reckon you'll get through winter ok. I didn't start really showing until I was about 5 months, and didn't start to look BIG until about 7 months.

I'm a 10/12 and I ordered a 36 and 38. The 38 was about right other than the sleeves which were down around my knees.

Beautiful coats but made for the long armed, tall, slim hip type. I.e not me. Sadly returned both.

I bought a size 38 and I am usually a size 10 / 12. It's fine but a bit big and I wish I'd bought a size 36.

By the time you get properly big it will be Spring / Summer so I'd go for your normal size.

Lots of nice ones on ebay including parka style ones. There was a thread on here the other day about the evils of down coats so maybe try to get a synthetic padded one rather than the down one if you're concerned about animal cruelty? I really like the Jo Jo Maman green wool one that comes up on that ebay search personally.

thank you. am going to try a 38 i think and see how that fits. it is true that i really dont know how big i am going to be by February, but i know that with DC1 I didnt wear maternity clothes at all and I didnt really need them until month 5 /6 with DC2. As this is my last pregnancy I am a bit reluctant to shell out loads on a maternity coat! thank you for the ebay link, but most of those are smartish coats (which i already have) and was looking for a padded warm coat. it was me who started the thread recently where the cruelty involved in down was mentioned, and i believe that the Didriksons is down-free.
