Pics here ted baker flinto skirt

I'm too old to wear it with bare legs like the model

I wondered about green shoes to go with the green piping [close up pic on my profile) but are green shoes a bit bizarre? . Also I've not got any green shoes and can't find any

I thought a cream top. May be

The woman in the shop told me to wear black with it

Help. I'm clueless

Can you return it? It is quite an unforgiving style so if you haven't got the legs for it, maybe send it back?

MacaroniAndWalnut · 03/12/2012 21:25

Oh. I really like it. I think its beautiful :( My legs are ok. I just don't want to show my pants when i'm pissed mingling and being December an'all I thought tights might be the thing

Now I've got doubts

Could you wear some very nude tights with it then? It just doesn't look like the sort of skirt that would suit opaque tights for instance.

aPirateInaPearTree · 03/12/2012 21:31

it's a summer skirt surely?

HyvaPaiva · 03/12/2012 21:34

With the main colour being such a light aqua, I'm afraid I think black will look rather odd (and I'm a big fan of black opaques with any possible outfit). Also the piping contrast looks okay as small detailing on the skirt but shoes that colour might clash. Nude tights and nude heels would work best I think. Sorry to disappoint, OP.

Celticlassie · 03/12/2012 21:36

I love that skirt. I would wear it with black tights, because there is so much black in the skirt I think it will work. Maybe a black top too.

Will definitely work in the summer though.

It is a summer skirt, I have an old print of it (the bird one). It's lovely! I wore it with a baggy black top, with cream lace around the sleeves and neck. Tucked in with 3/4 length black leggings and black pumps. I also wear it with a 3/4 sleeve cream shirt with black buttons, no tights and bright pink shoes (the bird one has pink piping, so I see what you mean with the green), or a bright pink, tight T shirt and pink shoes. It's better in summer, but if determined to do it in winter I'd wear with a black top, 3/4 black leggings and biker boots.

If for dressing up, not a day to day skirt, then only nude tights and nude heels I think. Sorry, I wear mine as an every day skirt, so I was thinking of it like that...

MacaroniAndWalnut · 03/12/2012 21:45

Hmmmm

It's for a party not everyday wear so although yes, it is quite summery I suppose I'm sure there'll be plenty of people in sleeveless dresses. It's a very thick fabric which I think counts in its favour

It's just sequins and 'normal' Xmas party dresses just are not me.

There is quite a lot of black in it, the woman in the shop had me put on a black jacket with it and I don't think it looked too shite

And yes, I'm sure nude tights / shoes would be best, but then that is quite light and summery

Thank you for your suggestions. It's helping me figure it out

It's a very heavy fabric. It doesn't move much, I promise I never showed my arse in mine! Black blazer, tucked in vest, nude tights and round toe black stilettos(possibly suede)?
