Why cashmere?

I am tempted to ask for a luxury present this year for a change. Does cashmere offer something amazingly different from other knitwear? Is it easy to care for? Why should I ask for cashmere and not perfume?

guess you would want cashmere rather than perfume as you wanted to keep warm.

its warm, lovely and soft, and comes in lovely colours. i find wool is either itchy or acrylic looks like a rag and goes all bobbly.

mine is all machine washable. i dry it flat on a clothes airer, laid flat over the bath with a towel on. so yes, bit more fiddly than cotton jumpers but worth the effort.

personally i wouldn't go for the really expensive cashmere - but then i wear it all the time, eg dog walking, shopping etc.

I wash mine on cold in the machine and never have any problems.

I have about 10 pairs of Brora socks, 2 Brora cardies (one from EBay) and 3 Brora jumpers (one from eBay) and one boden jumper which was 30 in the sale 3 years ago - all of it looks like new and I expect it to last a decade.

I wash cardies and jumpers rarely as I wear them over stuff.

It lasts for ages, it's bliss to wear and looks good.

Although soft I just find it too warm (and I am nornally freezing!) and sweaty. Prefer merino wool and lambswool as easier to layer up.

Because cashmere is so amazingly soft and warm, feels good next to your skin, washes well and just looks much better than ordinary jumpers. A great buy in sales,TK Maxx quite often have good cashmere available, once you've tried it, I am sure you won't want to go back to ordinary wool!
