help a stressed out style numpty ?

i need to find an outfit for myself and also for my 2 boys , ds1 is 17 and just doesnt 'do' shopping and clothes and ds2 is 13.

its for a smart casual wedding in december .

we dont have jackets or shoes or anything suitable , have no idea what sort of thing to buy and have little dosh !

any help appreciated !

A slim-fitting dress with cool tights and heels for you?

DS1 - a black shirt, black jeans and boots - stuff that could be worn again and won't mortify him.

DS2 - fuck knows! what do they wear at that age??

and yes , not much money! we haver just about scraped enough for christmas presents but there is also dh , so 4 of us needing shoes , jackets , outfits , going to cost a bomb! if i could i would get out of going !

Why not black with coloured tights/shoes? A shrug or bolero rather than a suit jacket. Would that work for you?

Do you have basics in the wardrobe for DH and the DSs that you could just re-use? A shirt that's ironed and shoes that are polished could be effective? Maybe just one new thing for each of them then blow the rest of the budget on yourself!

OK so each of the males - do they have one suitable bit? Presumably all have trousers and shirts. Could the boys just wear their school trousers with a different shirt. Could you buy shoes off Ebay? Could DH wear a work suit with a cool shirt unbuttoned?
