any suggestions on a 20s style outfit for a themed evening? don't want to get a fancy dress I will only wear once - any suggestions for (reasonably priced) 20s styled party wear? petite size 12

This is pretty but not cheap. You'll need a bob and red lippy. Or beads around your head. Wish I was going...

That is a beautiful dress!

I can't really help with the clothes, but there are lots of tutorials on YouTube on how to fake a 20s bob.

Actually, have just googled and there are loads of fancy dress dresses for about £20. I wore a long satin Chinese dress with a faux bob, red lips, cigarette holder and a feather boa when I went to a 20s thing.

How come I don't get invited to any 20's things? (wails).

Thanks so much for taking to time to reply. Lounge the dress although over budget, the faux bob is a fab idea. Thanks v much!

I've just ordered this from Topshop. Although they don't have your size, you can check store availability via the webpage. It could be quite 1920s and it's timeless so you could definitely wear it again.

Very nice, but too short to be 20s?

But thank you very much for the suggestion!

OP - if that dress doesn't work for you, I second just goingto a fancy dress hire shop, if you are happy to return the following day, it's often cheaper than trying to find something on the high street you'll only wear the once.

givemeaclue · 01/12/2012 20:50

Yep, that's my back up!
