Can a tailor alter a heavy wool coat?

I have inherited a lovely heavy wool duffle coat. It is really gorgeous but just that little bit too big that stops it looking good on me. I really dont want to give it up because it is so beautiful and warm.

It fits okay across the shoulders but I am very small chested so it would need to be taken in from below the armpit. Does anyone know if this is the kind of thing a tailor can do? And if so, how much it costs?

Taking in from below the armpit is not difficult, assuming you don't need to refit sleeves. Refitting the sleeves or refitting a collar is the most difficult operation (and usually one to avoid).

I had a wool coat from Karen millen taken in. It cost £20 which considering the coat cost £300 was a bargain. It was a brilliant job you really couldn't tell. Fits perfectly now.
