Has anyone tried Demeter perfumes?

They have an amazing list of perfumes!

If you have tried them what do you think? Do they smell like their name and how long does the scent last?

I really want a food smelling perfume like something cinnamon-y or a bakery type scent. Warm and comforting! They do Cinnamon Bun, Brownie and Ginger Cookie which sound nice as well as some odd ones like Dust, Earthworm and Holy Water!

Is it weird to want a food-y perfume?

They are supposed to be good imitations. There is a whole class of perfumes called Goumands, usually based on vanilla, chocolate etc including Angel

M & S have some nice ones here including Tendre Madeleine, which smells like freshly baked sponge cakes.

Gourmand perfumes are very comforting, esp in the cold weather

I had a fig one (gorgeous) and a Gin and Tonic one (super gorgeous)! They lasted a good amount of time from what I remember. I'd love more but they're not easy to get hold of (got mine in Liberty on a very rare trip to London).

I love foodie perfumes .. except the Goumands like Angel bleeuurrggh but love anything else that smells like sweets or fruit. DH seems to like too :)

Prada Candy is very gourmand (clue in the name Grin). Dries down to musky caramel. Very pleasant

plaingirly · 26/11/2012 07:29

I like Angel but I wanted a sort of pure foody scent!

The M & S ones look interesting!

Someone on ebay is selling Demeter from the US for about £16 including shipping. Lots of sweet cakey ones

owlface · 27/11/2012 03:28

I have Sugar Cookie, it is lovely! I would like more but they are hard to find.

plaingirly · 27/11/2012 07:09

Really like the sound of Cinnamon Bun but worry that people would think there was food in the room if I was wearing it!

I had rain years ago - from liberty. I think they are lovely

JuliaFlyte · 27/11/2012 12:12

I has one years ago, smelt of freshly cut grass. I used it as a room spray, it was fantastically summery

I have Library. I don't wear it all that much, but sniff it often.

madammecholet · 27/11/2012 18:13

I read this thread title as 'Dementia' perfumes!! Nearly posted something about that being very inappropriate!! :)

plaingirly · 28/11/2012 18:02

Oh no not dementia perfume! Funny how people read things - I often have to read a title twice ....

Have ordered Cinnamon Bun from Amazon - free postage!

people appear to stock Demeter. They're in trendy E. Dulwich. And they have an endorsement from Lucia Van der Post! (I love Lucia.)

I remember them in Liberty: were we all hanging around in Liberty then? Smile

The new M and S fragrance place has quite a few gourmands. They have that really nice range (name??) which is delicious. My friend and I stood for about 1/4 of an hour oohing and aahing over those. And they also have a range of body sprays by i coloniali, a couple of which are edible-smelling.

I'm a bit suspicious of gourmands ever since a friend sniffed the air scented by another friend's perfume and mused loudly that all she could think of was custard. Still, there's a lot to be said for occasionally smelling like a sexy cupcake.

Hmm. Why didn't that work? Well, I'll try again: [www.roullierwhite.com/contact-us-2-w.asp Roullier White]]
