What are you all wearing for Christmas parties? I am looking for inspiration as everything I've tried so far is either tarty or matronly. I blame my oversized norks for this.

My work party is always themed in some way. This year is 80s. Sad There was a company wide vote and 80s beat 50s. Shock Sad

Not going to any Christmas parties this year but if I was I'd wear either:
my Vivienne Westwood black dress with black opaques and platforms and perhaps a sparkly collar necklace;

or black skinnies with a sequinned t-shirt and above platforms;

or black lace mini dress with sleeves, with black opaques and platforms and a big silver cuff.

For norks, VW is well worth a look.

80s style means harder work!

Thank you Remus, really helpful. Not sure I can justify the cost of VW but will definitely use those ideas!

Ive decided to wear black lace dress from ted Baker with pair of studded pumps ( no heels as im tall and all my female friends much much shorter so dont want to look like Eiffel tower!) with black opaques...going out this coming wed :)

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2012 21:21

Sounds lovely. Where are your studded pumps from? I need more studs in my life!

Thanks. I don't like gold though, and prefer ballet shape to slipper shape. Will keep looking.

Have a great time!

Am wearing Phase Eight Agy dress, linked it on my 'pearl necklace' thread :)

V flattering for the large of nork.

CointreauVersial · 24/11/2012 22:38

DH's office party is quite dressy so I shall wear a party dress - either last year's Warehouse purchase (blue with long chiffon sleeves), or possibly a little black velvet number I picked up at the charity shop (needs some remedial work with a needle and thread, and a statement necklace as it is quite plain).

My office do is less dressy, so I might end up wearing black coated skinnies and a sparkly top.

I don't have a norkage problem though.....

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 24/11/2012 22:41

Oh to not have a norkage problem. Sigh...

HoleyGhost · 25/11/2012 13:19

Yes, so many lovely dresses, so unsuited to norkage

I'm wearing this it looks really boring in the pic but looks great on. I'm large of nork (34h) and have a small waist, big hips and it looks great on. It would also look good with a nice red belt.

I will be wearing it with my hair up nice dangly earrings and bracelet, no necklace and high heels.

I'm wearing it to 2 parties this year one I'll be doing a vintage style black flicked eyeliner, red lip and another I'll be doing a more dramatic glittery smokey eye and nude lips.

RemusLupinsBiggestGroupie · 25/11/2012 16:25

Liking the idea of going vintage with the dress - seamed stockings too? Lovely!
