Was looking at a bag the other day for Xmas , looked again today and the price has increased by £100! Seems like this on a few. Cynical pre Xmas cashing in! Ridiculous a bag I bought 2 years ago for £495 is now £795! Think I will sell it!

A mumsnetter said a few months ago that in November they would be putting £100 on each of their classic bags! She said wouldn't apply to the Lana del Ray ie new ones. Which bag did you spot as being more expensive?

Mulberry are outrageous. Pricing loyal customers out. Unless I go to the outlets I will not be buying mulberry anymore, greedy bastards.

If you go to the mulberry part of the purse forum there is a code for 20 percent off at selfridges which includes some mulberry bags I think. I think its in the shopping part. Don't know if it will still work

The Bayswater has gone up £100.

They are usually generous in their gifting to journalists at Christmas.
This year, NADA!
Not one freebie to no-one.

I'd hold onto your bag PinkT

I don't rate Mulberry any more the colours are wierd and the designs totally over the top - - I was told they are aiming it all at the growing chinese and indian markets - they have the money to spend so the prices are going up . . .

Mominatrix · 25/11/2012 16:48

The high end luxury market is booming. All of the very high end labels have have a 10-20% price increase every year over the past 5 years (at least), and have only seen their demand and profits soar. If Mulberry does not follow suit, then it risks losing its cache.

Horrible, but it would be up to the consumer to stop the ever increasing prices. However, the reverse seems to hold true and if prices drop in comparison to their competitors, the consumer psychologically thinks that the brand is just not as good.

The Selfridges code is SELF20

You are probably right Dazed - true of other luxury brands - even the vaulted Hermes. Makes you wonder if the owners really think the consumer is quite stupid, particularly in light of increasing demand DESPITE increasing prices and decreasing quality!
