Please help me with styling my legs.

I'm 5'5, size 12 top and 10 bottom, a classic apple shape. My legs are ok, I have slim but not shapely calves. I want to buy some shoes or boots to go with dresses. I usually wear v necks that finish above my knees. What shoes would you recommend. I feel least comfortable in ankle boots, I prefer mid calf of below knee boots. Which do you think would suit me most. Shoe boots? Shoes?

Also another question. I have bought a plum coloured dress. What colour tights and shoes would work with this?

Desperate bump.

Black riding boots and black opaques seem to work for me. I notice some of my younger colleagues wearing tan boots this year, and coloured tights/leggings ( plum, aubergine, grey) all of which look nice, without screaming "look at my legs". I'd avoid shoe boots ( never seen them look flattering on anyone) and for the same reason ankle boots with dresses. depending on your look, biker boots might work too.
I recently bought some flat suede mink coloured knee length boots ( also came in black) at M & S. Cant remember exactly how much, but around £80. They work with a lot of my dresses.
