what weight are you if you are 5 ft 8?

Please lovely ladies,

I need some perspective here as people keep telling me I'm as I should be but not sure I agree....

I am 5 ft 8 , at the minute I weigh 11 st 8lb. Classic apple shape, 34ff boobs but good pair of legs! I feel I'm still fat at this weight even though I'm largely in a size 12 top and (mostly) bottom. Realistically though I'm pushing 40 so really struggling to lose anymore weight (i drink too much red wine if truth be told!)

So, what do other ladies with similar stats to me weigh?
Should I be hitting the spin bike and shakes or relaxing a little

Thanks Grin

I'm 5'8" and two months ago 1 was 14 stone 7lbs. I joined Slimming World at the end of Sept and I am now 13 stone 2. I am back in a size 14. I am aiming for 12 stone. This sounds huge compared to some of the 5'8"ers on this thread! It is the top of healthy range for our height. The doctor who did my medical which made me realise that i really did need to loose weight measured a lot of wrist/hip /shoulder type distances/circumferences one a told me that I had about the biggest skeleton you'd get for my height. I am very muscly and at 11 stone I am pointy honey and my size 8.5 feet look like flippers!

ivykaty44 · 23/11/2012 12:29

gnocci You may not like the question - but you didn't answer it either.

Muscle maybe denser than other materials but it will always weight the same pound for pound.

Trills · 23/11/2012 12:47

Of course a pound of anything weighs the same as a pound of anything else - that's what a pound is, a measurement of weight. Nobody would ever dispute that a pound of something weighs the same as a pound of something else. If you think that anyone is saying otherwise you are accusing them of being incredibly dense.

When people say "muscle weighs more than fat" they mean for the same volume.

The same way when people say "lead weighs more than feathers" or "sugar weighs more than flour" they mean by volume.

Whenever anyone says that anything weighs more than anything else they mean that for a thing of the same size, one weighs more.

Trills · 23/11/2012 12:49

(yes, I know, mass rather than weight, gravity blah blah blah)

gnocci · 23/11/2012 13:34

Seriously ivy no one is that thick.

Exactly trills

lljkk · 23/11/2012 13:58

I don't care how fat you may still feel, anyone who has recently lost 2+ stone deserves a standing ovation. That's a LOT, Well done!

dontcallmehon · 23/11/2012 14:34

I'm 5 foot 7 and weigh 9 stone 3 ish. I feel quite slim at this weight.

GrownupGoth · 23/11/2012 20:55

5 foot 8. I weigh 11 stone six. I am very very curvy (34G boobs, coathanger hips). I was 15 stone 10 just under two years ago.

I still feel fat.

DottyDot · 24/11/2012 08:40

See having lost about 32lbs, I feel great with my 14 stone and people who know me say how skinny I look (arf!). Mind you my frame itself is big - I've got size 10 feet, massive hands, very broad shoulders, and am bloody 34GG, so most of the rest of me seems slightly smaller in comparison..!

Would like to see if I can get in the 13s though - unknown territory for me since I was a teenager... Grin

I am 5''8 and weigh 11stone now (67kg) and am happy to say, don't worry about it!! I am 17 (Birthday was a week ago) so believe me, you're doing splendidly! I will likely gain weight as I get older as I am still developing, so don't worry about weighing 11stone 8lbs, that is a perfectly healthy BMI!

I know I am very late to this thread, but thought I would post anyway, just so you know - there isn't anything wrong with you!

I8toys · 07/03/2017 12:28

I'm 5ft 8 and 9st 11. Too much for me and I have a belly. My ideal would be 9st-9st 7. I can be anything from a size 6 to 12 dependent on shop!

CountFosco · 07/03/2017 16:44

It's easy enough to check on the nhs website to see the normal BMI range for your height which is 8st 10lb to 11st 11lb. What is your waist measurement? Waist to hip ratio should be

dailystuck71 · 07/03/2017 16:51

5'7. 11 stone. Was 10.5 and want to get to that again. Body not doing it though.

ItsJustACompanyPolicyOfMine · 07/03/2017 16:52

Just so you all know - This thread is 5 years old!!

oldwife · 07/03/2017 16:56

It is. I saw a reply from myself back there.

I've clearly spent too long on mnet Grin

user1487519954 · 07/03/2017 17:01

I'm 5 7 and a half and 11st 7 at the moment. (mid 20s)
Been slowly losing weight since I was 12st 4 last summer!
I think my ideal weight would be 10st 4, I stopped growing at 15 and was this weight aged 15-20 give or take a pound or two!
I'm a size 12-14 btw, was a 10-12 at 10st 4.

BWatchWatcher · 07/03/2017 17:37

I'm 5'9 and 12 stone/77 kilos.
I'm muscley though and my tummy is flat. I'm a plough pulling shot put heaving type of woman!

Theconifers25 · 07/03/2017 17:49

19 stone and size 22.

Theconifers25 · 07/03/2017 17:49

And 5"8

humanfemale · 07/03/2017 18:02

I'm always amazed too by the range of weights and sizes!

I am 5, 9", size 12 and 10 st 10lbs. Pretty muscular build and fairly large frame - my personal ideal is 10.5 stone and the lightest I've ever been is 9st 11 lbs - that was too thin.

Blinkyblink · 07/03/2017 18:14

5.7 (.5) and 8 stone exactly.

Very fit, very healthy but eat quite a bit.

I don't look scrawny apparently and everything in proportion. I'm just very very slender.

Cloudhopping · 07/03/2017 18:27

I'm 5ft 9, 10stone 10 and am a 12 - 14. I've got big boobs - 32E and a big bum/ thighs on a fairly small frame. I do a moderate amount of exercise but my body fat percentage is quite high. Would love to feel more toned and less 'curvy'.

hippospot · 07/03/2017 18:51

At 5'8" I weigh 62kg, yes I know I am mixing metric and imperial!

But I have an athletic (read, flat-chested) build. Size 10 in most shops.

ArriettyClock1 · 07/03/2017 21:08

I am 5' 7.5 and have to say that over 11stone I would feel and look really fat.

I look slim at 10st 4 but my perfect weight is 9.5 stone.

Sciurus83 · 07/03/2017 21:19

Around 9st, size 8-10
