Foundation to minimise large pores on cheeks- does it exist?

Whenever I put foundation on it sinks into my pores and makes them look more noticeable, not less.

Primer or Loreal BB cream is better on its own that foundations I've tried, but I've got quite ruddy cheeks so I would like a foundation that works, to even things out more.

Has anyone found one that is good for this? (I've got quite pale skin, so I need one that makes a pale enough colour to work)...

I have got big pores on my t zone and find that Laura Mercier oil free foundation is one of the fe that doesn't look Casey. There is a primer too. If you find a counter, they may be able to do a demo, they also tell you what colour you would be.

Mac pro longwear in matte - I have large pores on my nose and cheeks and it fills them in nicely without looking too heavy. I'm quite pale with ruddy cheeks - my shade is AW20, best to get matched at a MAC counter though. It lasts for aaages too, I have mine for 6 months and wear it almost daily.

Have you tried Clinique Pore Minimiser? I cannot begin to tell you how fantastic it is. I have really obvious pores on my cheeks & always have done. Foundation alone has never helped because it just sinks in. The minimiser comes in a small tube in a couple of shades (I use neutral) and it almost literally erases them. The foundation can go over the top. Couldn't live without it.

I've found for me the solution to this isn't the foundation but how I apply it. I bought the real techniques expert face brush- sorry can't link but type that description in to amazon. It is a different design to most brushes as it buffs the foundation in and really gives a lovely finish.

I'll second the Clinique pore minimiser, it's amazing! My pores are terrible and this really works. You can wear it under and on top of your make up.

Have you tried the loreal primer? It's really good

I too suffer from big noticeable pores on my nose, but don't wear make up most of the time. Does the Clinique pore minimiser look of without foundation on top?

Any of those primers usually have sillicon in them, which give me awful blocked pores and acne, so be careful!

2mummies I quite often wear the Clinique without any foundation on top - although I usually put a bit of powder on (Cornsilk) to keep it in place, iyswim.

It's the only thing that I've ever used that does what it's meant to. I might give the Estee Lauder a try too, though.

I have found that hot cloth cleansing is the way forward. I have always had combination/oily skin with noticeable pores on my cheeks and nose. It really used to get me down- I'd do my makeup (even applying a primer), think it looked ok, but then would notice in the car mirror that my pores looked huge. Makeup just sank into them and exacerbated the problem. However, I had read a lot about using a hot cloth to remove cleanser. I don't use muslins, but flannels (Sal Hughes recommends it on her Guardian beauty column on cleansing). The flannel exfoliates as it removes the cleanser and leaves my skin really smooth. I then apply a light moisturiser and then my makeup and my skin is looking better than it ever has. I am so, so happy.

So, maybe give it a go, as buying a flannel will cost you a lot less than another primer or foundation. And you can use any cleanser with this method- it doesn't have to be a "hot cloth" one!

Thank u for the advice Crikey, think I might have to try some, pores be gone! And I also like this hot flannel idea, hot water and flannels are cheap! Do u leave it on for any length of time or just wipe the cleanser of with it?

Does anyone use the pore strips that literally rip the crap out of the blighted little holes?

With regard to the hot flannel and cleanser, I massage the cleanser in circular motions into dry skin for about a minute. This warms up the cleanser on your skin and allows it to start breaking down the makeup and muck on your face. I then wring out the flannel (I tend to leave it in the sink of hot water whilst I'm cleansing) and wrap it over my hand and start massaging it over my skin (again in circular motions). I then just splash cooler water over my face once all the cleanser has been removed and then pop on whatever day/ night cream I am currently using. It really has made a difference to my skin. I am currently using Bourjois Healthy Mix Serum foundation- makes my skin slightly glowy and healthy looking, without making it look greasy.

Avon skin perfector great for minimising pores

I've always had bad skin, but was never an everyday makeup person. Laura Mercier mineral primer is great for me. Boots no7 bb cream for oily skin in fair for evening redness. Or Estée Lauder invisible foundation - in 01? Bb cream is so light it's wearable everyday. Ask for samples before you buy anything. Picked up these tips here!
