...Here's me baps I will be wearing it for a work do, what do you reckon is the best way to accessorise it ? I'm thinking seamed stockings, not sure about shoe colour - black seems a tad dull and some sparkly earrings. I want to prove irrestible should any saucy single men cross my path ( deluded face )

Might be a bit much for the look you're going for but these are amazing in person, and really comfy too.

MsArseBiscuit · 03/11/2012 16:40

Thank you MrsC, I really like the first ones you linked to but I'm not sure I wouldn't fall over, the Jasper Conran ones are lovely and I agree with you about the third pair. ( Don't suppose that being the resident jewellery expert, you've got any suggestions about where to look for a pair of earrings ? )

ScentedNappyBag, they are an astonishing pair of shoes but could be construed as ' work themed' in my job. I would bloody love a pair though.

Haha, didn't think of that Grin

mrscumberbatch · 03/11/2012 16:52

I would wear marcasite earrings as it gives you a bit of decadent, vintage-esque sparkle and never looks tacky even though it's quite pocket friendly.

art deco drop

same website-another art deco drop

Or French Pastes... which were the 'Cubic Zirconia' of their time. But highly coveted and collectable now... although you'd be lucky to get change out of a few hundred quid.

I am on an Art Deco binge as you may have noticed.....

MsArseBiscuit · 03/11/2012 17:01

MrsC, they are just beautiful, I love Deco designs, so elegant.

Amazing dress.

MsArseBiscuit · 03/11/2012 18:19

I've been looking for an excuse to buy this bag en-gb.boticca.com/uroco/kimono-clutch-scarlet-view-with-cranes-by-the-rive/ - or am I better off going a bit plainer ?

OP posts:
mrscumberbatch · 03/11/2012 20:07

I'd probably go plainer. Although that clutch would go AMAZINGLY with a black dress/pencil skirt and some slippers

MsArseBiscuit · 03/11/2012 20:43

I'm very keen on vintage Japanese fabrics ( sounds like a right ponce ) which is why I love that bag, unfortunately my tragic shortarsedness means that I rarely do flat shoes.
Inspired by you, MrsC , I've just bought a pair of Deco paste earrings on eBay.

OP posts:
mrscumberbatch · 03/11/2012 20:48

No that's hilarious. I LURVE japanese fabrics. (As in, came home from Tokyo at the age of 22 with a suitcase full of kimonos in various states of decay which my poor mother nearly killed me over.)

Most of them have been butchered to make other items now but I've still got a couple for a rainy day.

You won't regret pastes! They are such a classy but eye catching staple.

MsArseBiscuit · 03/11/2012 21:01

I just love the fabrics and the designs and the sheer artistic skill < sounds even more of a ponce, has been on the wine >. Are you aware of this site ? Smack for Japanese-a-holics I've got a haori jacket from here and have bought a couple of vintage obi - so beautiful.

Well that's my Xmas sorted! Great link!

HollyBollyBooBoo · 03/11/2012 22:07

That dress is utterly beautiful - fantastic choice!

Gingersnap88 · 04/11/2012 19:51

Wow, that is such a beautiful dress!

Bra wise, could you not go for a bustier / body? Bravissimo and What Katie Did usually have a good few, WKD being very retro too!
Otherwise the Wonderbra Ultimate strapless bra is brilliant (the one with the hands), even on my 32F and my friends 30G!

MsArseBiscuit · 04/11/2012 19:59

Thank you Gingersnap, I do have some WKD things and love them but from memory I don't think the corselette/body things go up to 34FF, I have 2 of the Ultimate Strapless bras - the best strapless bras I have ever bought - amazing engineering. I think I'm edging towards getting a balconette bra, not sure which brand, and using one of my WKD waist clinchers, probably with a separate suspender belt.

eagerbeagle · 04/11/2012 21:31

I have this dress in red. It is amazing on. Make sure you watch the Youtube clip that shows how to tie the sash properly.

I wore it with a black plunge bra (34G here), sheer stockings with a black backseam and red satin peep toe heels. With vintage gold necklace and earrings I got at a vintage fair. Got an up do at the hairdressers which was so worth it.

eagerbeagle · 04/11/2012 21:33

Also had my WKD girdle on underneath. Not much room to breathe.

MsArseBiscuit · 04/11/2012 21:59

That's really helpful, thank you Eagerbeagle. Did you have any difficulty with the edges of the bra showing ? ( and you just reminded me to watch the YouTube clip, I'd seen it when I googled and then forgot all about it ). I'm thinking about getting a gold vintage evening bag from eBay too.

LittleIllusionMachine · 05/11/2012 16:39

OP - I've got a similar dress to this, I have to wear a plunge bra with it. Get some tit tape to stick your dress to the bra so you don't end up flashing it!

MsArseBiscuit · 05/11/2012 17:18

Thank you LittleIllusionMachine, I was doing some investigating on the Bravissimo site yesterday and coming to the conclusion that that might be the case - I want to tread the fine line between vintage fox and deluded old tart with a certain amount of care.

I have the Freya deco and it was fine. I do totally live the dress. I felt very glam in it. Where are you wearing it?

MsArseBiscuit · 05/11/2012 22:26

I have the Freya Deco ( after reading about it on here, obviously ) Eagerbeagle but I'm not convinced it's a very flattering shape on me for some reason. I'm wearing the dress to my work Christmas do, although I'm having slight cold feet at the thought of exposing my colleagues to the full extent of the Grand Canyon that is my décolletage.
