Tops with elasticated hems?

I ALMOST bought one for the first time because I loved the print.

Whenever I've tried them on I don't understand... Do you let the elastic ping up around your waist, or pull it down to your hips, or something in between?

Should I just not worry about it and never ever buy one?

The only one I have (v old monsoon summer top) is meant to act as a bubble hem so you let it hang down and the outer layer is more loose. Probably not describing it that well...

I have a black top with an elastic waist band which I wear with a long black vest underneath. I pull mine down half way between hip and waist.

I used to wear them between waist and hip, but realised they made me look at that awkward stage of pregnancy when no one knows if you are up the duff or a bit fat Blush

They're great for covering wobbly bits...of which I have many :( I usually wear mine between waist and hip.

I've got a few tops like this but I've cut out the elastic!! Usually because I've loved the top but hate the look because I'm tall and they ride up and show the world my middle!
