I love this coat - but I need something else

oast but it's very expensive and what I really need is a practical very warm parker or quilted coat...but I love this one.

How warm do you think it would be?

Help me justify it as an investment buy, by showing me how it could be great with jeans and boots? Otherwise it will only be worn about 3 times a year. I'm 5'7", size 12 and 42, but like to think I'm not too frumpy.

What colours could it work with? I usually have black or neutral coats so I don't have to think too hard about what's underneath

That is gorgeous, I want it too! I can see it with grey, black, navy, beige or you could do some brave clashing with orange or pink!

I bought a red coat years ago from whistles and I still wear it, in fact I'm going to take it to the dry cleaners today :)

I'm thinking it would look pretty good with skinny Jeans (not necessarily blue) and biker boots, or am I deluding myself?

Without a hood, I'll need a hat....

nice coat but I do find that a coat without a hood is completely unpractical in UK weather. I couldn't justify it unless it was for smart/formal wear.

I have a variety of woolly hats. Hoods (except the ones on £££ mountaineering jackets) just blow down in the wind, or block the view when crossing the road.

That red coat is lovely. Get a nice hat and mittens and make like a winter catalogue photo shoot!

That coat is lovely, I have a wool funnel neck from oasis that I bought a few years ago. It's not warm enough when it's really cold but is fine from the car to work etc plus they look smart when wearing out. Mine was a purple colour and is one of the best things I bought. Just wear a hat, more stylish than a hood.

It's lovely! lovely shade of red. so often i see a coat and think if only it were a bit less red. that shade is perfect.

I don't want to out myself here but often when I go out I am standing around at a bus stop at the end of the evening! I need a smart coat that is warm, and if there does exist such a thing it is probably on some canadian website...

That coat is 10% cashmere, 70% wool and 20% nylon. So that would be as warm as a thin coat could be?? It looks thin but it has a high wool content.

I just spotted this on french connections ebay page and thought it was pretty similar to the coast one you liked fc coat.

Can't comment if it would be warm enough but is much cheaper than the coast one (so you could also buy a puffa one!)

good grief. at my height I would look like roadkill come back to life in that coat. like zombie roadkill.
