OK, I've bought these 2 dresses - now I need help...

Bought this dress and this one today. Bit of an impulse buy I guess and now I don't know what to wear them with [hconfused]

I guess navy leggings with the navy one, but what on my feet??

The mulberry knitted one doesn't really go with most of the burgundy tights/leggings I have seen as the shade just doesn't work, so it needs something to contrast it i think but I am at a loss as to what will work.

Both go with my skinny dark navy denim jeans, but I need another option as part of the reason I have spent a fortune in recent weeks-- have been shopping is because I am so bored of half the clothes in my wardrobe and am trying to give it some renewed life!! plus they are dresses so I don't really want to wear them over jeans...

can someone offer any suggestions?? If not I fear they are going right back to the shop!

Erm - well personally I'd say no to leggings tbh.

The blue one with either navy opaques or maybe berry opaques and brown or biker boots?

The burgundy one with grey marl tights and brown boots?

Dark yellow opaques with the burgundy

I think grey knitted ribbed tights/leggings with the burgundy would look good.
Always wear boots with leggings. They are only ok if they look like thick tights I think so you never want to see bare skin at your ankles.

I've got the blue one! Wear with opaque tights and black ankle boots for day and dressed up with v high black court shoes to be a bit dressier. Had loads of compliments! Love fat face dresses!

Hi OP. I like the look of the Mulberry one. How does the sizing come up please and is the fabric soft? For what it's worth, I'd look to pair this with some woolly tights in grey or burgundy with knee length brown boots.

I tried on the mulberry one(in navy) and found the cuffs very puffy and flary. Are yours like that OP or was it just the two sizes I tried on?

I see a few of you have mentioned grey with the mulberry dress, but the pattern on it is like a creamy colour and so I am not sure that it would go. I don't think navy would go with it either particularly though. To be honest I am not sure that this dress is right for me as I am a 'winter' and all the colours that it would truly go with are not my colours... If I change it for the blue version though then I just end up with 2 blue dresses

Also I don't posess a pair of brown boots (yet) so would black be OK do you think, or not?

I have navy leggings that look like thick opaques which is what I meant really when I said navy leggings, but again would black boots be a real fashion faux pas?

suebfg - the sizing comes up on the bigger side tbh. I am a 12-14 but found the 12s very generous. and yes, the fabric is soft.

Pseudobadger I know what you mean about the cuffs but I think that is how they are meant to be...

I have been browsing some more and have found this dress instead, which I think might just be better than the patterned one I linked to in my OP.

This leaves me more options for what colours I can wear with it and I can make it more interesting by accessorising without it clashing...

What do you think? Should I swap?

I have that one (in blue). I only got it rather than the patterned one because of the sleeves issue...

I wear that kindof mulberry colour a lot, usually with brown woollen tights and brown leather knee-high (low heeled) boots. Not very imaginative but it's cosy and no-one has complained!

I don't think black would be wrong exactly with mulberry but personally I wouldn't - but I have the choice. I would go with brown leggings/ opaques and brown shoes rather.

If not wearing boots I would personally do leggings but that's because I'd be self-conscious about it being so short and would like to show I'm wearing leggings (woman at work berated me for wearing a "mini" skirt - just above the knee!)

Re the alternative - I am a sucker for a bit of pattern and personally I would go for the original one. If I got the plain one I would feel obliged to tart it up with some kind of scarf. But it's all a matter of taste in the end!

As for colours that "go" - winter-white, cobalt blue? You can see the model in the photos is wearing a mulberry scarf with the navy dress and it doesn't look wrong.
