I have decided that I need some new trousers for work and would like slim leg ones with a midish rise that will go with blouses/ tops.

Can anyone recommend any to me in black or navy? I'm willing to pay for a good quality pair that will last. I'm size 8-10 but pear shaped so always conscious of my bum in trousers and want trousers that will flatter that area.

Also, a lot of the trousers at the moment seem to be cropped. What shoes/ stockings do you wear with these in Winter or do you just freeze?!

Many thanks

Gap did a big campaign a while ago with their work trousers. I'm not sure what length you're after, but these cropped ones are rather nice. Then we have these straight leg jobbies if you're worried about cold ankles.

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 12:28

NO ONE addresses the cold ankles. i started a thread about it.

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 12:28

and yes those Gap ones are mine. but TOO COLD in winter and looked odd with ankle boots

TheCraicDealer · 29/10/2012 12:30

Tell me about it, Maureen- I had to invest in some knee high pop socks a few weeks ago.

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 12:30

oh god. This is a bridge i WILL NOT CROSS

Sleepwhenidie · 29/10/2012 12:32

these are beauties but definitely an investment, NAP sale starts Wednesday i think though, so if you are interested keep an eye but don't look at the matching jacket cos you will want that too Grin

MaureenCognito · 29/10/2012 12:33

cold feet klaxon

TheCraicDealer · 29/10/2012 12:46

I've not only crossed that bridge, I've set up camp underneath it. Like a little pop-sock-wearing troll.

NigellasGhost · 29/10/2012 13:01

crikey the Stella jacket is double the £ of the trousers!
I like those trousers though. Wonder who does similar style but significantly a bit cheaper..

Mango or Zara

Sleepwhenidie · 29/10/2012 13:33

Joseph, Reiss or Whistles maybe worth a look? I don't have time right now unfortunately -curse half term!

noddyholder · 29/10/2012 13:36

Look at m and s knee highs they have moved on from nora batty! I also wear fine striped wool gap socks with loafers

Guardian Saturday mag fashion column was addressing this issue a couple of weeks ago You have to suffer for fashion. Looks like pretty heels and freezing ankles are the way to go!

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/10/2012 13:54

Sleep - Nap sale on wednesday? That's most unusual isn't it?

Sleepwhenidie · 29/10/2012 17:18

Mmm, now you say that mrscb, I may be completely wrong, but I am sure
I read it somewhere!

heroutdoors · 29/10/2012 17:33

sleep NAP starts on Wedn?
Thank you thank you thank you.
It could be very soon anyway. My gut feeling is telling me they have not had a good season with their bread and butter customers.
Not the sheika's of the world, they are fine. By the way has anybody else read that the second wife of the Sheik of Qatar, has bought a huge share of Anya Hindmarsh?

MrsCampbellBlack · 29/10/2012 17:55

Nap normally only do 2 sales and they always send out previews to their best customers - don't think that's happened. The US sale is also always first and that's not on yet.

So unless its some special flash sale I'm not convinced.

jumpingjane · 29/10/2012 20:15

I love the Stella ones but would definitely need to wait until the sale!

Hmmm- so no good solutions for cropped trousers and footwear. Not sure I'm cool enough to suffer!
