Colour damaging hair

Hi I have a semi colour on every few months but it is starting to wreck my hair.

Aren't semis meant to be gentle?

Does anyone know what treatment I can put on it. My hair is fine, a bit wavy and gets weighed down so looks greasy with heavy conditioners.

In my experience you can't go wrong with Aussie. I use the mega shampoo and conditioner and the 3 minute miracle reconstructor. They have a great one for fine hair too.

Best tip I ever got was to one condition the ends of my hair through the week as it was the ends that needed it and my hair is much less greasy now. I don't have to wash it every day. And I use a dry shampoo on the roots on day 2 if I need it.

I've used the Aussie leave in conditioner. My hair was still quite dry afterwards.
Haven't tried any of their other range though.

Coconut oil.

Use it as a pre-shampoo treatment, put loads on and leave for as long as you can (overnight ideally) then wash hair as normal you might need to give it an extra shampoo.

John Frieda Original Frizz Ease.... Still tops Moroccan Oil, for me!

Ok, don't buy hair dye from boots, superdrug etc, they all wreck hair.
Go to a professional hairdressing shop, where hairdressers buy their hair dye from and mix it with peroxide yourself, 50:50 ratio. You might have to ask the shop assistant for more information about this.

I was damaging my hair loads with those packet hair dyes but I've used professional dyes for about 8 years now and they've really improved the condition of my hair. My hair has always been really fine and that's not going to change but at least it's not being damaged much now.

Also, I can't recommend Gliss Asia Straight (the purple one) shampoo and conditioner. They sometimes have it in the poundshops. It's the best I've ever tried.

I haven't used the Frizz Ease as I thought it might give me the flat, greasy look.

Interesting about box dyes. Never knew you could go to a pro shop without a card or something. Well kept secret :)

Yep, box dyes ruin your hair. Seek out a professional shop. You usually only need a card to get the discounts. If all else fails befriend a hairdresser and get them to get good dyes for you. Just that alone will make a huge difference.

Is there a brand you would recommend?

I've mostly used Indola dyes and I would recommend it. Mix it 50:50 with creme peroxide in a tub. It would be best to buy some hairdressing gloves for application and maybe some brushes for touching up roots. Leave on for 30 minutes and wash.

It's really simple and much, much better.
