Hair and nail supplement?

Is there something I can take to improve hair growth/ restrict hair loss? Post-baby hair loss is becoming a bit severe for my liking and I read about iron supplements helping but I'd like to know what I should buy as I'm clueless.

Is it just iron tablets, is there a brand thats best, what strength, or is the hair and nail supplement worth a try as my nails are not so hot now either?

Silica and MSM is supposed to be good for hair and nails.
Might be worth going to your dr as the hair loss might be more hormone related than iron.

Dunno about hair and nails but if you're supplementing iron I'd definitely recommend trying Spatone (quite pleasant in orange juice) over tablets.

You should get your iron level checked by your GP before you start supplementing though as you mightn't need to anyway.

Thanks, I'll go to dr then and see what he suggests. It just seems to be more of an issue after this pregnancy than my first.

I've been taking the Boots version of Perfectil for a few months now, on the recommendation of someone on another forum and mainly because my nails were so weak. It has more or less the same ingredients in the same quantities as Perfectil but is about 1/3 of the price plus they have the 3 for 2 offer on supplements at the moment.

I was initially very sceptical but it has made a HUGE difference. Even my hairdresser noticed! I've always had fairly thick hair anyway but it feels healthier and looks healthier now, as does my skin - haven't had a zit for months. I used to have severe acne although that had improved in recent years I was still prone to break outs.

My finger nails are much stronger and my toenails are like rhino horn

Obviously you should check with your doctor if it's suitable and appropriate for you to take, but in my experience it has had a very positive effect.
