snoods - yay or nay?

I keep seeing these everywhere! Some are lovely, some distinctly nasty but I am still sorely tempted, and would buy if I could find one pref like This

I bought a lovely soft cotton one from Fat Face the other week - have been wearing it loads.

Is yours a single loop or a double valiumrh?
I ask as there do seem to be two distinct styles, one than is a much longer snood that is worn looped twice, or a shorter and bulkier single loop - I prefer this style - reminds me of a more elegant ski neck gaitor.

But very neat - not these grab huge dangly things - they look wrong imo.

I love snoods. I have some thicker woolly ones and also thin fabric ones. Easier to wear than scarves IMO.

But yeah! I want a snood. 80s flashbacktastic and SO WARM!

Shouldnt it be scood? Scarf + hood? What does the "sn" mean? Mind you, I've never, ever seen someone wear it as a hood....

According to Wikipedia the word dates back to 725 and is Old English.

I used to wear a cerise pink one pulled up as a hood in th 80s. Along with matching legwarmers!! I got a thick woolly Gap one for Christmas last year though haven't worn it loads yet..
