Is this too weird for a client-facing role?

I really like this necklace. Am I going to horrify one of my clients if they turn out to have a secret bug phobia? I'm an image consultant/stylist, so I'm allowed to look interesting, but I'm wondering if this might be a bit much. Thoughts?

no, I love it, and you'd have to look close to realise it's a beetle. I wear a prawn round my neck every day and it has yet to offend anyone...

MarshaBrady · 19/10/2012 18:49

It's great and actually the type of jewellery that would work well for what you do.

SundaeGirl · 19/10/2012 18:51

Perfect.

Ooh, super. Wasn't expecting that! Grin

I love it. I love a little dash of weird.

It doesn't look like £203 worth TBH. (Reminds me of the dodgy scarab beetle jewellery in Egypt that the shop/stall keepers kept trying to foist onto sell us )

Very Mary Portas!

I would think you were a bit too out there for mr to trust to consult with me but some people might like a quirky edge. I think with clients you want to be as inoffensive as possible to apeal to as many pepole as possible.

AmberNectarine · 20/10/2012 08:47

I disagree. I would instinctively have no faith in a stylist who showed no personality and just wore bland inoffensive clothing. What would she be able to do for me if she didn't even have a keen idea of her own style. That necklace is perfect for you hopefully - will look nice with your new ring ;)

Curtsey · 20/10/2012 13:52

I'd be gutted if I hired a stylist and she showed up in something dull and inoffensive! Would much prefer to see evidence of a creative, individualistic approach to dressing. I'd want to be inspired :)

Mosman · 20/10/2012 15:49

Where as I would head for the door

Hopefully · 20/10/2012 18:27

It's a difficult balance to strike - my natural style is a bit more dramatic than some people can take, but then I can't tone it down into nothing, or I would have no style left! I haven't had anyone too visibly alarmed yet Grin

Necklace is great Hopefully the woman who did my colours dressed very blandly (sp) but my stylist who took me for my shopping day was much more adventurous and I felt as though she would push me to be a little more adventurous as a result (and she did)
Nothing to be alarmed at at all!

AmberNectarine · 20/10/2012 20:44

You have lovely style hopefully, don't go changin'

Mosman · 21/10/2012 00:42

You dont have to to d it down to nothing, most people wouldn't wear that nckless to the office. Buy it but don't wear it for work.

whiteandyelloworchid · 21/10/2012 01:02

Love the necklace but it looks.like it.costs twenty.quid.not two hundred

EnidMary · 21/10/2012 01:20

I was expecting it to be a real beetle set in resin. It's actually ok, and I had to squint to make out the beetle.
