Please help me dress my 9 yr old DS for a very big formal wedding we are going to

I am struggling really, for a start he is tall for his age so wears 11-12 yr old clothes, and hardly any shops actually have clothes in that age range.

So far I have an outfit consisting of some cream chinos, a blue Ralph Lauren shirt, a tweed waistcoat, and he still wants a tie to go with it. Will this look ok?

I don't want to put him in a suit. The only suits I can afford will make him look like he's wearing a cheap school uniform. Not a look I like.

What I am honestly struggling with are shoes. He is a size 5, so pretty much adult sizes, although I have found a few online shoes. I can't really afford more than £20 (I know, not a lot for shoes, but the wedding is right before Christmas, abroad, and there are never ending expenses...)

I wanted simple baot shoes, he's had some lovely brown leather ones from Zara bafore, but they don't have any nice ones this year in his size. Where else to look?

Another option is ankle boots possibly? And have considered vans or converse, but would this be too casual for a big formal wedding?

I struggle so much with drssing him nicely, I really do. The wedding will span 4 days so ideally he needs to look nice and presentable and clean on all four days, while still being comfortable.

Any ideas?

I think what you've chosen for him sounds lovely and I converse would look quite cool with the outfit. I think kids are cut a bit more slack for a formal event and I'm sure people will think he looks great. You could try EBay for lightly worn formal type wear or even shoes. I just sold a pair of twice worn converse for £10 so there are bargains to be had. Hope you have a lovely time!

The outfit sounds ideal and I think Converse are fine.

But if you'd like something more formal, these are smart.

Boat shoes at M&S.

Thanks everyone! I have been searching eBay and will continue till I find the right shoes. Converse probably...
